1. Not So Good Morning
REIGN's POV
Bzz...Bzz...Bzz... 6:00am in the morning.
I slapped my alarm clock's button as it went off. I shouldn't have put alarm in the first place as I could not sleep the whole night out of anticipation. Because today happens to be my first day of Job as the CEO of Adams Hotels.
I sat on the edge of my bed letting my feet feel the soft fur of the mat while staring at the floor. I can't function unless I spend like at least 5 minutes staring at the floor after I wake up.
I got up and I thought of looking outside the window and see if the universe is supporting me on my first day by giving a beautiful sunny weather. I'm a cheerful person and sun makes me happy; I checked and the weather was beautifully good and the sky was clear.
I got into the bathroom; brushed, bathed, combed and walked out with a bathrobe on. I walked into my closet to search for a chic yet bossy outfit. Rummaging the wardrobe I thought to myself that I really need to keep my closet organised, no wonder I can't find what I need on time.
After a few minutes of hunting I finally chose a black sweetheart neck dress which ends just below my knees and has vertical stripes all over. I paired it with my black Louboutin heels, I feel really confident in these. For makeup I dabbed some foundation on my face, put on some mascara, eyeliner and my favourite bold red lipstick. Finishing off I let my blonde hair into a pony tail, letting my natural curls flaunt and bathed into my fruity perfume. I took my handbag and my phone and walked to the floor length mirror in the corner of my room to give one last glance before heading out. You're not giving bossy vibes Reign.
"Reign? Breakfast is ready"
Georgina called out from the kitchen. Georgina is my caretaker and my family, she's been with us since me and my brother were kids. She's a kind and a lovely lady. Since I moved out of my parents house, Mom sent Georgina to stay with me in my building for my help and safety. My house is a penthouse so Dad gave Georgina an apartment beneath my floor. She takes a great care of me.
I opened the door. Climbed down the stairs and I saw Georgina, a 65 year old woman smiling at me from behind the kitchen counter. Georgina is an old lady with average height, perfect white small bob and a never ending smile.
"Good morning, Georgina!" I said as I walked up to the dining table.
"Good morning, honey. You look very energetic this morning. I've never seen someone this happy to go to job", she said slightly amused.
"Well, it's my first day... and first days are the days where people tend to be happy then eventually their happiness tones down."
I said taking a sip of orange juice she offered.
"I don't think that's gonna happen dear, after all you'll be the boss." Georgina smiled.
I shrugged at that with a smile.
"So what's for breakfast?" I asked her as I took a seat in one of the dining table chairs.
Georgina placed a dish in front of me which had a tomato omelette, pancakes with whipped cream, strawberries, maple syrup and sausages.
'Finally', I thought to myself as I put one bite of pancake in my mouth, moaning as I devour it.
I'm telling you Georgina makes the best food ever, no wonder I've put on weight. Oh and as for Georgina she's a brunch sort of a person so she never has breakfast with me. Whilst eating breakfast thoughts of how my first day will go came into my mind.
Suddenly, my phone rang. It showed picture of a handsome old man and displayed 'Dad'.
I answered the call in excitement, "Hello, daddy. G'morning."
"G'morning sweetheart, I assume you're ready..."
I stuffed another bite in my mouth
"Of course I'am", I said it almost inaudible because of pancake churning.
"Uh-huh you're having your breakfast", he said chuckling.
"Yup."
"Look Reign, it's almost 7 am. You should be here at the hotel in 20 minutes. I'm already here and I want you to put a good impression on the employees so please don't be late on your first day." He said in an authoritative tone.
"Don't worry Dad I'll be there in time. Dad is Mom with you?"
"Yeah. She's right- -"
"- - Hi Honey!" I think Mom just snatched the phone out of Dad's hand.
"Mummy", I said smiling and thinking of how that must have happened.
"Reinny, are you wearing the watch that I gifted you as a good luck charm?"
"Shit", I said under my breath.
"Of course I'm wearing it Mom how could I forget it?" I said to Mom as I mouthed and signed Georgina to get the watch from my bedroom. Georgina understood and quickly left .
"I'm with your Dad here and I want to see you wearing that watch Reinny"
"Yeah, Mom. I just finished my breakfast and now I'm leaving so see you there Mom, Byeee",
I stood up.
"See you."
I practically ran toward my bedroom and Georgina came out with my watch in her hand.
"Here you go Reign", she smiled
She handed me the watch and I hugged her.
"Thank you, Georgina! I'll see you in the evening."
"Good Luck to you dear", she said and I grabbed my car keys, handbag, phone and rushed towards the elevator. I smacked the elevator buttons in hurry expecting to ding fast. Thankfully nobody was in it. The automatic doors opened into the parking lot.
I glanced at my watch and it was already 7:05am. It takes almost 10 minutes ride for me to get to the hotel plus New York's unpredictable traffic scares me. I groaned inside and pushed the unlock button on my car key. I threw everything I had in my hand on the passenger seat and started the ignition.
Just when I was thinking this day would go great, but no, because the low on fuel symbol was blinking on my face. Dad is going to kill me; this is so not what a CEO should do. Ugh what am I supposed to do now?! There's no time to think Reign. I ran out of the parking and my eyes turned into human binoculars as I was searching and waving for a taxi. For one time in this world no taxi is stopping for me God!
And if you are thinking why am I so panicking, I'll tell you why. I'm scared of my Dad. Not scared scared but I respect him a lot and I don't want to get into his bad books. The bad book is saved for Alexander tho.
I did not realise now many blocks I had walked looking for a cab. Finally, a cab across the street stopped and I went running towards it.
Out of no where I crashed into something hard. Hard yet soft. I shut my eyes close as I was expecting a collision with the ground and I crashed so hard that I lost my balance but I got supported by two huge hands on my back and waist. I opened my eyes to encounter a broad chest. I look up and I saw blue eyes. Mesmerising blue eyes that were looking into mine intently. I became aware that I was in arms of a man. Correction, gorgeously handsome man. He was tall; my hands were on his shoulders clutching his shirt and I can really tell he had a perfectly toned athletic body underneath his black polo t-shirt.
His face, my God his face was so perfect. Perfect eyes, perfect beard, everything of him screamed perfect to me.
Then he spoke.
"Are you okay?" He asked raising an eyebrow.
His voice. Hard, raspy, dominating yet sweet like honey. I did not realise that I was ogling at him. He gave a smirk and cleared his throat. I was brought back from my trance.
"Huh? Yeah- yeah I'm okay. Thanks"
I straightened my dress with hands. And I looked up to him, he was looking at me with a small smile.
"I'm sorry I wasn't looking..."
"Your stuff is on the ground."
Yeah, my handbag wasn't in my hand anymore. Shit.
I bent on my knees to pick up my bag but he grabbed the bag before me and gave it to me.
We both stood up.
"Um thanks... I'm in a hurry. Thank you."
He stuffed his hands into his pockets, shrugged and moved aside of my way. I look is the direction of where the cab was but it wasn't there anymore. Someone might have taken it. I banged my forehead with my hand and I said, "what the?...."
I was thinking of another way of getting to the Hotel, just then.
"I could drop you to your location if you want.”
I turned to my left to face the guy. He had put on his shades and was leaning on the car with his arms crossed. Woah his arms!
"You can? Why?"
"Because it's 7:30 in the morning and you already look pretty messed up. So you know, if we do not spend time here chit chatting I can really drop you on time." Saying that he went to the passenger seat door and opened it.
"Hop in."
