Chapter 1

“Please.” She reaches out her hand towards him, tears streaming down her cheeks. She wanted him to accept her, she needed him to see her pain so maybe he could understand what effect he had on her. Her heart aches as he ignores her advancement towards him.

“Why me? I’m nothing but a piece of shit.” He turns away from her, the wind whipping around them. The dark night surrounding them, and the water under them calmly moving. He couldn’t let her keep this up. She was going to go mad. His mind furious at her that she couldn’t leave him alone. She was obsessed, although she’ll say she’s just in love. Is how she acts really out of love?

“Just leave me alone, move on.” He says, barely flinching when he hears her soft sobbing. She was crying over him, and he’d never know why. But he knew he had to make sure he felt nothing, he couldn’t care.

“No. I won’t.” She steps forward, her body involuntarily wraps itself around him. The embrace was a complete surprise to him. He didn’t move to remove her. He loved her, he knew. He also knew that it would never work. While she would discard the fact and keep trying. He was envious of her optimistic mind, her determination to make it work and how she could grow pass things while he’d get caught and tangled. He had his deep dark problems and she knew it, having some of her own. But was two troubled people the best duo?

“How did you know this is where I’d be?” He asked, looking down at her small hands that came around to his front and held on.

“I drive past here every night to see if you’d be here.” She removes herself from him, slowly, not wanting to leave his warmth. She looks at the ground, and sighs. It was true she came by here every night but tonight was the first night she actually stopped to see him.

“I couldn’t bring myself to stop to talk to you, until tonight.” He scoffed at her comment.

“You shouldn’t have stopped. It’s been a waste of your time.” He paused and turned around to face her. “Go home.”

“Not without you.” She fired back. He stared into her red eyes. He wondered how many nights she’d lay in bed crying over him.

“You cry too much Princess.” The words slipped from his lips, he could almost see the words hang in the air. Her body froze and anger pulsed through her it.

“Dont. You can’t do that.” She took a step towards him and repeated loudly. “You can’t do that to me!” She was angry he’d pull the ‘Princess’ card. He knew it was her weakness and she’d turn to putty in his hands. Those words, are the words she would repeat over and over, day after day in her mind. He watched as she battled with herself mentally, looking at the ground. Her clear, flushed, beautiful face scrunching up and her breathing picking up.

“Calm down.” She looked up at him as the words were spoken and immediately she relaxed. She couldn’t help the way her body reacted around him, anything he wanted, she’d do. It was unhealthy. His eyes held emotion she couldn’t explain while her heart raced looking at him, his face looking so blank.

“Do you even love me..?” Her voice sounded fragile and quiet. The words barely reaching his ear through the wind. He was speechless. Did he love her? Yes, he did. Without a doubt, the love he felt for her was strong. It was like she could make the sky stop thundering with just a smile. She was his literal oxygen, without her its like he can not breathe. The bond they have is as tough as diamonds, because that’s what they are- Diamonds. They are resistant against everything but each other. No one could break him like she could. No one makes him feel as if he is weak except her. Her voice soothes every wound and her touch removes all pain. Her wide eyes stared at him as he looked into them. She was waiting for an answer but knew she’d never get one. She groans at his disobedience. He was never straight with her. Why did she think now would be any different? He watched as her body relaxed, eyes closing as she exhaled. Suddenly he was filled with fright as he realized, this was her giving up. Finally fed up, she turns to walk away. Her legs ignoring the ache in her heart, and starts to walk away from him. His body starts shaking, but frozen in place. He watched as she was getting farther away from him. Her heart screaming at him to stop her, it screamed for her to turn around and run to him, but she was exhausted. Mentally, physically, but mostly emotionally. She was exhausted. He still hasn’t moved, just watching her hair flow behind her. He didn’t realize he was crying until a tear reached his chin falling off to only meet the wood of the bridge he was now alone on. He watched as she finally reached her car, pausing maybe to see if he’d change his mind and would stop her or even accompany her to her home. But he could not, she was better off without him. He knew she’d grow past this, becoming stronger than she already was. As she climbed into her vehicle, she started the engine. She look to left of her seeing his body still standing so far away. She couldn’t make out his face, just a silhouette in the distance. She slammed her fist onto the steering wheel, angry he was so complicated. Angry he didn’t stop her. But she could not just blame him, she is angry she giving up now. After all the fighting she did. She was giving up NOW. She put her car into reverse and drove out of the parks, parking lot. She looked back seeing if he had possibly moved but was disappointed as he still had not. He watched the tail of her car pull out onto the road and drive off. He was now alone, aware of how cold the night was. Maybe it was because she was gone and the warmth of her aura was so far away. Still he didn’t move. Once he couldn’t see her tail lights anymore he reached out with his right hand and whispered;

“I love you.”
