Summary

Maxiean is a normal teenage girl living in modern society. Or so she thought. Living in a spacious house with her three sisters and her parents, but not all are what they seem. Max seemed to be the least favorite of her sisters when it comes to her father's opinion. Maybe it's because she was smarter. Or maybe it's because she was more mature. Whatever the reason, her looking exactly NOTHING like the rest of the family doesn't help. But maybe the strange dreams she keeps having about a multi-colored-eyed baby in the middle of the woods, a beautiful two-set winged woman, and a giant black wolf that can talk might be able to help her understand. Especially when one morning while looking in the mirror, her eyes turn into the same colors as the baby. From the slanted cat-like pupils to the mitch match colors. What in the bloody hell is going on!? Find out in Blood-Bound. (Note: I started this book and had to take a break due to family issues. This book has been reworked and therefore small details have changed. If you are a long-time fan of Blood-Bound, it's best to start from the beginning as these changes will affect the story as it develops.)

The chill of the forest was unrelenting as the wind howled through pitch-black trunked trees and tall grass. But another sound stood out from the usual melody of the forest, a bundle lay wrapped in black silk a-lined with silver; It was a girl. She had black stringy hair, and light chocolate brown skin, but that's where anything remotely normal stopped. Her eyes were two different colors. One was black with a white pupil, and the other was white with a black pupil. The pupils were slanted like a cat's, her teeth small and sharp, and a mark laid on her forehead that resembled a crescent moon.

A sudden rustle of the bushes breaks the night's silence as a head seemed to materialized of shadows. Its eyes were nothing but two bloody slits in its head, with a mouth that was nothing but a thin line, and below its chin around its neck was a bloody wound that unmistakably resembled a rope. The being emerged from the shadows hovering just inches from the ground, its body looking strung up in the air gruesomely. Slowly making its way towards the baby, leaning over her and slowly opening its mouth. Revealing bloody, razor-like teeth.

Just before it lunged at its target, a blinding beam of light came crashing down sending the beast spiraling backward, screaming in agony until it was nothing but scattered bits of shadow blowing in the wind. All was quiet until the sound of flapping wings filled the air. It reverberated between the trees as whatever it was descended to the ground. The disturbed air whipped at the surrounding trees and grass as a beautifully breathtaking woman came into view. She had two sets of giant raven black wings, and her skin was the color of charcoal. Her hair the shade of midnight blue, seeming to be moving in a non-existent wind on its own. Star-like dust wavered from her eyes, and resting on her head laid a crown of silver. Decorated with black gemstones, and engraved with markings of its own. Her armor was similar to her crown, the material catching any and all light giving it a slight glow. Along her hip was a magnificent silver sword, It's a handle made of moon rock, and the ball of it in the shape of a giant moon. The weapon was so big that it stuck out of its hilt. Like her humongous wings, the sword dragged behind her as she advanced towards the baby.

The woman fell to her knees as she picked up and cradled the crying infant, shushing the small child In her arms until the crying bubbled down to giggles. A pudgie hand reached up and grabbed at the woman's hair, never tugging too hard. The woman smiled at the bundle in her arms as if at that moment, she had everything she could ever wish for. She began to speak, her voice smooth and sweet with the slightest hint of a purr.

"Oh you poor sweet thing. If only you knew how much you mean to me and countless others. How with even just existing you have achieved at being a a beacon of hope and light. If only you knew the great things you are to accomplish, it's one of the reasons why it breaks my heart how much you are probably going to suffer to achieve that....." The women's voices began to crack as tears slowly made their escape. Her tears were as white as the beam of light that had demolished the shadow creature just seconds before. Falling from her cheeks to the forest floor, leaving white, sweet-smelling flowers to grow in their wake. "Which is why I must send you away. To keep you safe..."

The baby's cries once again rang through the forest as she was slowly laid down again, the lady gently shushing once more her as she spoke." You are the only thing I have truly cared about in a very long time...which is why he'll be after you... they all will." The woman sniffled as she used her thumb to wipe a tear from the baby's face. She lifted the bundle to her face one last time, heads connecting and tears intertwining." you may not know I'm there, but I will always be with you. You may not see my face, or hear my voice, but I will never be but a few steps behind you. And when the time comes, I will reach out to you. it may be many moons until I do, but I promise that it will happen."

The infant's cries slowed to a stop as the woman spoke and brought her lips upon the baby's head, kissing the birthmark on her head. There was another rustle in the bushes, only this time accompanied by a large, baritone growl. The woman looked at the baby one more time as if to say goodbye, before moving her to be hidden by the undergrowth. Then fled, but before she could take flight, a gigantic wolf sprang out of the bushes with breakneck speed. The woman reached for her sword with a pace more than equal to her attacker; slicing a gash in it's side, although not before the wolf could do the same to her arm. Both opponents paid little attention to their wounds as they faced off. The canine was gigantic, with jet black fur, and cold amber eyes.

"Well, well well..." The wolf started with a deep chuckle." If it isn't the meddling queen of the night herself. Hello Morwenna." "Hello, Tormentor..." Siad Morwenna with a growl too similar to the beast she was currently facing. "I see you have taken on your father's form as you did with his name...along with some of the others." She spat, Tormentor tutted. "Now Morwenna..." He spoke; " Is that any way to talk to your son? Or about your family?" "You are no family of mine!" Morwenna hissed before she pounced. But something happened that took Tormentor by surprise; As she was in mid-air, her body began to contort and change. It lengthened, her arms and legs grew and sprouted fur, her hands and feet morphed into giant paws, Seven sleek black tails grew from her spine, and her head shifted into a cat's muzzle. Crowned with antlers that held some sort of purple star-dotted gemstone.

By the time Morwenna hit the ground, she had become a giant, snarling panther. Only this panther had wings, seven tails, and a crest of mighty antlers that cradled a galaxy purple gemstone." And you never will be! You lost that privilege when you and the rest of you betrayed not only our family but your legacy." She finished in a low snarl. Tormentor stood there for a minute stunned, before quickly regaining his composure. He chuckled as he began to speak.

" Well of course we are mother...we are family, and we are bound by it..." Tormentor put a heavy emphasis on that particular word as he began to speak, stepping closer to the giant feline". We are family-bound..." He prowled closer." Loyally-bound..." He was only a few feet away from her."... Blood-Bound..." He finished with bark and leaped for her, but Morwenna was one step ahead of her son. She deliberately fell under Tormentor's weight so she fell on her back. The to tumbled and tossed in a ball of claws, teeth, and the limbs before Morwenna placed legs under the great wolf's belly. She pushed with her legs and sent him through the air and over the ledge that they both had nearly gone over, but before he could fall, Tormentor had latched himself onto two of Morwenna's tails. His weight sent them both over the cliff in a series of growls and roars of fury. And once again, the baby's cries stood out in the nights usually calming song. But not before Morwenna could slip a pendant around her neck in the shape of a winged star decorated with holes.

There was another fluctuation in the bushes that was accompanied by six pairs of red, beady eyes. All of them trained on the small bundle in the grass. Their gnarled, clawed hands reached and grabbed at the fabric she was cloaked in, unearthing her from her hiding spot. The baby screamed, causing the gruesome and cruel creatures to laugh. It was a terrible sound, cracking and obnoxious. The sound would make anyone want to shut the damn clock off.

Wait...the what..?

" Beep! Beep! Beep!"
