Chapter 1
Allen started his morning just like any other. He quickly turned off his alarm and grabbed clothes for a quick shower. After finishing up and dressing in his typical jeans and tshirt he headed downstairs to start his day.
The house still didn't feel like home but after 18 years of foster homes and his more recent failed relationship with Jennifer he was glad for a change.
After opening the fridge and cringing at the smell of stale air, he quickly closed it and added cleaning it out to the already massive to-do list. His phone chirping on the table distracted him from his thoughts and he swore as he recognized the number. It was his boss from back home in Tuscaloosa, probobly telling him he's fired.
15 awkward minutes later he had officially resigned from the dealership he worked at and promised to mail in his uniforms in exchange for his last check. The emptiness of the house started to hit him and although the temperature outside was struggling to get outside the single digits, he couldn't stay inside anymore. So, grabbing his thick coat and gloves and lacing up his boots, he opened the door and stepped out into the icy morning air.
While he had spent the majority of his childhood bouncing around from foster home to foster home back in Alabama, he had spent 2 summers staying with his aunt in Northern Wyoming until she passed on his 15th birthday. Now, three weeks after he aged out of the system, he found himself back in Wyoming after getting a call from a lawyer informing him that he had inherited his aunts entire estate including her house and what was once a fully functional ranch complete with two barns and a stable.
He had just made it past the second barn and was closing the gate to the field that ran all the way to the base of a mountain when he heard a growl behind him. At first he thought it might be a stray dog but as the animal crept closer, he could tell it was no dog. The massive grey and black wolf was starting to circle behind him, cutting off his escape route as a second solid white wolf came out of nowhere and tackled the first one.
He knew with the size difference, the first wolf would be free of the smaller one soon and he didn't need to be there when that happened. He immediately turned and ran back to the safety of his house. Once he had slammed the door, he went over to the window but wasn't prepared for what he saw.
The two wolves were gone and the most beautiful woman he had ever seen was limping her way towards his house. She was covered with bloody scratches and very much naked!
He ran back out to help the strange woman in the house before the wolves returned. As he made his way across the yard, the woman collapsed to the ground as a wolf howled in the distance.
As he reached her, he knew she was badly injured due to the amount of blood that had seeped into the snow, he picked her up as carefully as he could and rushed her into the house.
He got her onto the table and had began washing away the blood when he noticed something was definately not normal. Every line of blood he wiped, revealed a fresh pink scar instead of a wound he was sure to find. Not to mention the tingles that ran up his arm and made him feel warm every time he touched her.
He got her as clean as he could then left to find some clothes for her to wear when she woke up. As he searched in the massive amount of moving boxes he hadn't taken the time to unpack, his mind began to drift back onto the strange woman who lay unconscious on his kitchen table.
She had long blonde hair and seemed short maybe 5"5. He knew she must be around his age and seemed very athletic. He just couldn't understand why he found her bloody and naked in the middle of his property.
He had just found an old pair of sweats and was about to head back downstairs when he heard something crash and glass break.
Allen rushed downstairs to find the woman sitting on the couch with a curtain wrapped around her.
"Are those for me?" The woman asked a speechless Allen. He shook his whole face before sheepishly handing the folded sweats over. He was still in shock at her miraculous recovery and her piercing blue eyes.
"Who are you and where did you come from?" Allen blurted at the woman who was once again nude and tying to fit into his oversized sweats.
As the woman finished dressing, she got up and closed the blinds without saying a word. She returned to the couch and turned those icy blue eyes on Allen before she spoke; "I'm Allissa and I'm here for you. I'm a werewolf and I've been dreaming of you and where you'd be for days now. When we turn 16, our wolves have the ability to identify our soul-mate, someone who the moon goddess designed especially for us. I knew that if I arrived at this farm tonight, my mate would walk through the back gate."
Allen was stunned at the revelation but still skeptical. Everyone knew that werewolves only existed in twilight and other Chick flick garbage but the woman seemed so sure of herself he couldn't help but trust her. "Say I believe you, what happens now and what was that outside?" The she-wolf looked down before answering. "Back in my pack I'm an alpha female. I was orphaned at a young age thanks to hunters and the then beta couple, Mark and Stacie South took over as acting alphas until I found my mate or I turn 18. Part of the agreement they made with the national werewolf federation, at the age of 18, if unmated, I would become a choice mate to their son Conner. That's who was here tonight. I guess his parents told him I had found my mate and where I would be going. " Allen was very quiet during the whole conversation and continued to sit in silence until he finally spoke up. "If what you say is true, then if I'm your mate, Conner will not become the new Alpha. One question though, did you happen to notice I'm human?!"
"Of course I noticed you were human, I could smell you as soon as I reached the back border. I must be honest with you, you have two options moving forward. Yes, it's true that Conner wouldn't have a claim on me if I was mated to my fated mate, however, a werewolf cannot be mated fully to a human. In order to be fully mated, I must bite you to turn you. The first shift of a turned wolf can be very painful. I would understand if you chose not to go through with it. If that's the case you can choose to reject me and it will permanently sever my fated mate bond. Now I can't make the decision for you, I must tell you there are some perks. Not only do we get a mate that was hand picked to be perfect for each other, we also get supercharged healing and we are much stronger than humans. The wolf becomes a part of us and I can communicate with her any time."
Without saying another word, Allissa dropped her pants and pulled the sweater over her head before changing seamlessly into the beautiful white wolf that had saved him earlier.
Allen knew everything she said was true as the wolf walked foward and licked his hand. He was turning around to let her change and redress as the shot rang out and his world disappeared.
