Chapter 1

“Hellllllp!!!! Please! I can’t breath. There is no oxygen! HELP!” Chokes of air where in my throat. Nothing to keep it down in my lungs. Me, Lydia, dying, with no one here to help. What a disgrace to my name.

I tried to call again, but in mid word, I choked. It wasn’t from not enough air, someone grabbed my neck, making my life even shorter.

“Hush. There isn’t much time. And stop breathing rapidly. Taking longer breaths will be better than shorter ones. And sorry about grabbing your throat but I’m under cover as a loyal servant. That’s where I’ve been hiding all the years, Veronica.”

“Who you? And not Veronica.” I felt as though someone gagged me, and clogged my throat with it.

“I’ll explain later, sis. We have important needs.” Everything was a whisper, and it was as though the sound of a butterfly wing flap was a commitment of crime with the punishment of death. “Shut up, tweep!” He screamed at her. She saw the scheme. She just had to follow it.

It wasn’t really hard once she got the jist of it. It was actually amusing. She was in a cell with still not much air, but she was locked in there with the boy on duty. But she wasn’t really

locked

in there. The boy had unlocked it so he could get in to escape through the vent as well. Which was going to happen, soon.

One, two, three! She sprung on the table grabbed the edge of the vent gracefully with no sound and climbed in. The boy reported on his talkie he was going in to investigate. He followed through the vent, then closed it behind him.

“I’m your brother. Veronica is your true name. Your

mother,

when she adopted you into our home, she changed your name to Lydia so you didn’t have to live with the life you lived with dad. Some how you still ended at Camp Hive. Truly a tragic place compared to the others.” He muttered. “Even still! You want your life back? You know how everyone called you Veronica at first? That was because you

are

Veronica, you just don’t know it.”

Then she realized that she had a plentiful amount of air. Air was a miracle.

She could say nothing. Astounded, she just kept crawling through the vent. All she could do was think about Loyd, and what this would do to him, and if it would tear him up. Maybe even make him not see her as she truely is anymore. Maybe, even see her as... as an outsider.
