Prologue

Jail...

Possibly one of the worst places anyone could be at. A nasty cot to sleep on, no bathing, one or two meals a day(if you were lucky), and being tortured by the guards. But there are some cases where some people get it better than others, like me. See I’m not in jail for thieving or murder. No I’m in jail for something much, much worse. I had said no to the great Lord Shade who had wanted to mate me. It would’ve been an honor to anyone else but I had to take care of my ill mother. She had been fighting a fever and a nasty stomach virus but I had got news that she soon get better not too long ago. Yet I had learned that one ordinary day could become your worst nightmare and it all happened in the matter of minutes.

I had started my day out normal, cleaning the house before checking on mother then going to the market to get food for our evening meal. Walking down the dirt road in the morning had always brought me ease to my hectic days. The creatures always buzzing around me in a frenzy to get their work done. Up ahead I had heard a noise that was causing a large disturbance. Curiousity got the better of me and I had hurried ahead to try and figure out what or who was disrupting the village. My long black hair whipped around behind me as I ran and I began pushing my body to go faster. When I got to the scene I saw royal guards, rushing through anything and everything they could go through. What they were looking for I didn’t have a single clue, but why would royal guards be going through the village’s shops? There had to be a reason behind this chaos. And I was soon going to find out that the reason for this chaos was me.
