Bang!
A bullet passed by me only to hit a nearby wall. I was so not going to miss this. Going out in a gunfight was not on my bucket list nor would it be added any time soon. Too bad the men after me weren't on the same page.
Bang!
Another shot rang out through the long glossy hallway. I snorted while picking up my pace. Were these really Elites? So much for that special agent training they're supposed to have. The echo of bullets rang through the hallway into my ears. My nose twitched in disgust from the heavy smell of gunpowder floating in the air.
I was told stories about Elites when I was younger. How they were dangerous, trained to kill professionals. And how it was my job to stop them without mercy. At eleven I had been forced to kill an Elite as initiation. I didn't know how to feel about it, Elites are stone-cold killers and it was either him or me. Still, a part of me blackened with the choice.
A charcoal black wall began to build around my heart, blocking out any emotion my brain decided was excessive. Though physical pain was another story. That was something I haven't been able to get rid of yet.
Bang!
Another shot ricocheted off the white and grey marble checkered wall in front of me, bouncing to my feet slicing into the floor. By the sound of the bullets, they must be using Glock 17 C-type, and the guns must be new because they were reloading fast.
What the hell? This was supposed to be a simple in-out mission for the data team! I even asked for a simple mission this time to help train the newbie recruits that were just added on yesterday. That jerk better not have lied to me. When I get back that boy is dead. In Rico's words, this was a simple grab and go mission. In my opinion, this was a chaotic war zone at the moment.
The hard part was over, I had already grabbed the information for Syrian. Now it was just a matter of getting out of here without a scratch. And seeing the enemy's skills I already estimated a 99.98 percent chance of getting out of here clean.
Now all that's left is to get them to lower their guard. Rico already took out all the safety measures and the firewall minutes ago, and now that I have retrieved the data I just needed a way out. The Elites needed to lower their guard.
"And the best way to do that is surrender like a coward," I mumble to myself. Apparently it was still loud enough for Rico to hear through the comms.
"Fue trust me, I'll get you out of there with ease." Rico proudly stated through the intercom.
"Yeah? Well, you're the one facing a computer screen not loaded guns. the worst that can happen to you is a computer virus, I could die."
"So...should I turn the Elite's security system back on and go back to play video games?"
Oh yeah! Great plan Fue! Way to fight with your only current ally! Aren't you so smart ma petit flamme*? God, to remember my father at a time like this. I really must be going crazy. My little flame huh? More like my little monster.
Bang!
Another bullet ricocheting brought my head out of the clouds and back to what was important at the moment. Being a coward.
"Okay, I give up!" I halted, turning around to face the expanding out of breath group of Elites. They should work out more.
I slowly raised my hands to the universal sign of surrender. Of course, I may have added a vulgar hand gesture in there for a second. Not that any of them probably notice.
"Hands behind your back thief." Snarled a short red-haired Elite in the front of the group. If I remember correctly from the photos and files on some of the Elites, this man's name is Derek. In fact, when I looked at all the Elites I knew most of their names.
Derek ran over to my right side and quickly pulled out a small pistol shoving it to my right temple. He raised his gun in the air before slashing it downward pistol-whipping me across the face. Only to aim it right back at my temple once more as if nothing ever happened. Only leaving a burning sensation that was not the good kind.
"Fue are you okay?" Rico's voice whispered tickling in my ear as he spoke.
"I apologize for any inconvenience I've imposed upon you today. Before you take me away may I say one more thing?" I ask the still growing group of Elites
"Why not? It's not like this girl can do anything but run anyway. She's just some stupid, idiot who got lucky getting this far let's see what she's got to say." A bulky Elite in the back shouted
"Wow Fue, harsh words all under three syllables?" said Rico
Shut up Rico. I don't have time for this.
"Why do you keep looking like you're going to talk? Are you talking to someone?" asked Derek.
"Yes, it's the 90's. They're calling to get their shirts back." I unconsciously retorted. Rico snickered on the other line. "Wow Fue, what a fiery temper you have. You should come to my school sometime, everyone would love you there. And Mari would like to see you, it's been a year or two and she's still on me about asking you to come by."
Derek dropped down his gun only to snatch the intercom from my ear throwing it across the hallway near a closed off exit.
Jerk. Now I'll have to go pick that up.
"No matter, they shall all be sentenced to hell in the end," I whispered while focusing my attention on my abandoned intercom laying on the ground.
"What did you say brat?" Derek shouted bring his gun up once more.
"Nothing, I only said thank you for this wonderful opportunity to correct you. I am not a lucky thief, luck is a skill which I don't obviously possess seeing as where I am right now. So I only have one last thing to say," I utter sticking my pointer finger in the air.
Bang!
A stray bullet is shot from the back of the group of Elites, traversing the hallways and grazing across my cheek causing me to hiss out in pain. Holy mother of god that hurt.
"Ouch, that hurt. What is wrong with you people?" I pause for a moment taking a deep breath to calm myself. Breathe Fue breathe. "Anyway, the one thing I have to say to you makeshift security guards is well...hmmm, what's the word I'm looking for? Oh, right the word is-" I freeze mid-sentence.
"Burn" I whisper flashing the confused Elites a bright smile. The hallway flickered and combusted into flames.
Ma petit flamme = My little flame
