Chapter 1
~No One's POV~
Kasein shivered in the small nine by thirteen cell, rubbing his arms to try and stay warm. He had his head on his knees, tears staining his dust covered face. He hadn't eaten in two days, his stomach growling softly.
"You need to eat and sleep," a guard softly said to him.
"Why? So someone can come in and draw blood because of the sedative in the food," he mumbled very softly.
"We only give you the sedative to calm your nightmares," the guard says, crouching so he could see Kasein's bruised body.
"Don't need the sedative," Kasein mumbled gently, "I wanna go home.".
The guard watched Kasein, knowing he was having a hard time adjusting to his new home. Kasein shivered gently, his head back on his knees as he broke down.
"Need me to get you anything," the guard asks Kasein, hating seeing the new slave heartbroken.
The guard didn't understand why Kasein's uncle sold him to the slave house nor did he understand why Kasein wasn't up for sale.
"I just want my mom," the poor boy, whispers, trying to keep his mother's memory alive.
He was trying to forget she died of breast cancer, but it never worked. He pulled his knees closer to his chest, trying to stop himself from crying.
He was scared and he didn't know what was going to happen to him. He was terrified of everything at the moment, even his own shadow!
The fifteen year old shivered gently, remembering the fire that had killed his father. He softly sniffled, hoping the guard left and everyone would leave him alone. He heard the cell door slide back, then he felt arms around his shaking shoulders.
"Am I stupid," he asked the guard.
"No, Sweetheart. You're just scared. If I could I would take you home with me and make sure you were safe," the guard said softly.
Kasein leaned against the guard, letting the guard hold him. He looked to the guard, his eyes clouded with sleep. The guard smiled softly and rubbed Kasein's side, but he frowned when he saw Kasein's bare arms.
The guard looked over the thin, pink and white scars, watching some of them bleed.
The guard kissed Kasein's head, then he gently cleaned Kasein's cuts.
Kasein whimpered in his sleep when he felt the badly stinging sensation of the rubbing alcohol. He had fresh, hot tears falling down his face, his shoulders shaking with worry.
"You're okay, My Pet," the guard said, kissing Kasein's forehead when he was finished with cleaning Kasein's self harm cuts.
The guard laid his leather jacket over Kasein before leaving the cell and the slave house for good.
Little did either know that they'd meet again by fates design.
