Tragic bus ride

Annika POV

My racing heart was against of calming down as my breath was highly irregular and short my legs was almost trembling hardly refraining from snapping out due to the running session though I am no good at it, I look at the person in driver seat who was throwing profanities at me.

Reason I jumped into the running bus in mid of main road with busy traffic around not caring the blowing horn. Yes, you can call me mad I convey through my eyes as my eyes fall on people advising me about my precious life and while some complaining about this generations kids sitting on the seat of bus.

Why did I receive profanity from everyone because I ran from the bus station till the main road behind this bus at freaking 40m/s I guess or that is what it felt as it was last bus of the day heading towards my house and bus was just racing as soon as it left the bus stop, what else can I do rot in the factory I work throughout night freezing.

I sigh finally and step into the bus platform carefully holding the iron rod like my life was depending on the hold. Why? Because the bus was going thrice the normal speed reason? Mostly ghost got into the driver and now was driving the bus directly heading to hell, I sigh.

I look at each face searching for a seat to sit to find it filled with kids crying sitting on the lap of mother, crazy students fighting and oldies are chanting mantras praying to have a safe journey, I don’t look at men’s side because Shiva won’t like me gawking at men. Yet I did could find Greek gods to Grand fathers with many serious poker faces and some playing some shooting and car racing games while other in their own thoughts.

And finally my sight land on the bus conductor who seems so involved in debating with an guy about future politics and I find it ironic as this bus is racing in lighting speed with no guarantee to our precious future. I look at some who kept muttering and complaining about speed and driver who seems to care less about it.

The bus conductor saw me and curse me under his breath moves towards me while blackmailing if I repeat the same next time I would be thrown out of bus mercilessly to which I nod un-interestingly collecting my ticket to only dash to front yet thanks to iron rods which I held or else to the force the bus screeched and finally stopped, the collector and me only souls who were standing would have been thrown out of the bus. I thank my stars and pray for my precious life.

Many now got adjusted with the speed and I sigh as even I can’t speck against it, my energy will go in vain, the conductor( person who provides tickets and collect fare for it) now was advising or more like preaching the driver to slow down while he argues about some timings problem, as he had to make it to bus deport soon before some guy called Vikas could.

I walk back to the last but one row which was empty as some got down at the stop. I take a deep breath hold the seat carefully to stop myself dashing back as the bus abruptly starts again.

I felt something vibrate in my jeans pocket flashing light, I squeezed my mobile out of my pocket and swiped the green button knowing who was calling.

“Where are you Anni” hmmm he is angry with the tone of his voice I could tell it, I look out as the intense orange light is fading into dark blue sky

“Shiva sorry my shift got extended I had to do OT(Over time) because their was delay in getting the materials out hmmm I ran like mad person behind last bus of the day and caught it just now so sorry, tomorrow I will take leave and we will meet can’t wait to meet you” As actually we had planned to meet today, he just got back two days ago, and all travelling needed big rest so we had to meet today but my bad luck

“A big NO” he yelled losing his calmness “Here I am waiting for you looking at the weird stare given by kids and you coolly cancel the meeting, it is been two years Anni and I want to meet you at any cost today” he and his adamant nature

“It would take two hours to reach” I whine “It would be dark by then and you know I can’t travel in deserted dark road alone let alone in dark garden” I try my luck

“I will meet Arnav by then later give me a call before reaching your stop I will pick you up we will have dinner and I drop you back at home” I sigh.

“Aunt Priya won’t be happy if I reach late and having dinner out, would be cherry on top she will taunt me” I can’t give an chance when she is desperately trying her to taunt me and stop me from reaching my goals

“See Annika I want to meet you and story ends their I am waiting for an hour and you know how much I hate to do it, at the least you could have informed me before in hand so I would not have done putting so much effort now that everything would be a waste I want to meet you and I am dying to do it from past two years so please”

He request I sigh as I was convinced to do, agree with him so heart wants what it wants and my nerves excited at the thought of meeting him after two fucking years.

“Okay” I say little bit enthusiastically happy that my wait is going to end just the thought of meeting him was making my stomach flip flop exploding many emotions. I just want to stay in his arms and cry my heart out missing him for these two years as he had been to abroad.

“Love you Shiva will call you okay bye” I let out deep breath and ready to hung up the call

“Love you too Anni can’t wait to meet”

I grin listening to his words which I ached to hear for years and finally I get a chance to hear it every time he calls me

He chuckles “By the way a surprise is waiting”
