Prologue
Everything is dark. I can’t see anything at all. Even my own hands that I feel pressed right in front of me are not visible.
I can barely move as my limbs hit something on either side of me.
Where am I?
Why am I here?
What is going on?
Am I... trapped?
I try to scream but the dark void that seems to surround me swallows down the sound. Despite this I keep screaming, and screaming until my throat is raw and I feel like I can't scream anymore.
The feeling of being trapped begins to kick in more as my surroundings seem to feel increasingly smaller and smaller to me. I start to have trouble breathing in whatever little space I’m in. I gasp out for breath as my fingers start to claw at whatever is in front of them.
It's something hard and unbudging, but I keep digging my fingers into, ignoring the sharp pain in my nails and the skin underneath. I keep going onto my fingers are too numb to move anymore.
Hopeless. This is all hopeless.
I'm going to die, aren't I?
That thought scares me but at the same time I feel too tired to keep fighting. Hope is slipping away.
That was until a tiny sliver of light flashes before my eyes. I instinctively lean towards it. Is this hope? The light grows stronger until it begins to slowly illuminate the darkness around me.
I let out a breath of relief as I believe to have been released from the enclosed space I was in. As I go to move something grabs me pulling me back down. The light fades away as something presses against my eyes, entrapping me back into the dark once more. The little bit of hope I thought I had fades away with the light.
There’s something that presses down painfully against my wrists; I’m pinned down. I try to move, to hit and kick the object pressing against me but I can't even move the smallest of inches. Even though I cannot see what is holding me down, my heart skips beats, terrified of the possibilities.
“No! Help! Someone help m-” My hoarse words are cut off as something roughly pushes against my pleading mouth.
I only realize that it’s another person’s mouth against mine after I can feel what I think is a tongue violently violates my mouth. I bite down hard on it. My wrists burn as I feel something digging harder into them. I try to kick and scream once again, but it’s still no use.
“You’re such a dirty girl, you know that don’t you? I won’t let you get away so easily. I won’t let them take you away. I won’t let him have you.” A familiar raspy voice speaks close enough to my ear to cause me to shiver in disgust. "You're mine, Cia. You will always be mine. I will make sure of that." I don't have to see the face of this person to know who it is. I would recognize that voice anywhere.
I want to scream out “no” but it comes out in sobs instead.
Something sharp presses against my top. That's when I feel it. A hot flash of pain stabbing into my chest. The pain is unbearable that I feel myself fighting to stay conscious.
This is the end isn't it? All hope is gone. I'm going to die, aren't I? I don't want to die, but...
That's when I hear it. It's a loud sound that I can’t distinguish what it is. Immediately after hearing the unfamiliar sound, the grip on my wrists finally loosens. I feel relieved for only a second before I feel a dead weight crushing down on me.
Yet again, It’s hard to move and breathe.
As I try to gasp for air all I can smell is a strong metallic scent that reminds me of the taste of blood that still lingers in my mouth; it drenches everything.
Whatever is covering my eyes starts to slip down. I can see a light. And then another. And then another. I want to reach out towards it but I am too weak. The pain and fear has become too much. I feel numb and tired. Too, tired.
I continue to try to keep my eyes open, but it's becoming too hard. This is it isn't it? I really am going to die... I feel my eyes flutter closed and this time I don't try to fight it. “You’re mine.” The words echo inside my head, over and over again as everything around me turns dark for what feels like the final time.
