Chapter One- First Day
---------Chapter One---------
My feet pound against the sidewalk as I run to my new school. I missed the bus by ten minutes and I'm pretty sure the first bell rings in five. This is why I hate switching schools. New schedule, new drama, new people. Plus more people to avoid. Making friendships isn't something I try and do at all. My utmost concern is graduating and doing something with my life.
Besides, the more people in your life means more people that can betray your trust, backstab you and destroy any feelings or emotions you thought you had. Yeah, it's happened before. Not very fun. Then again, I'm numb to the any feelings normal people even have. So, I couldn't tell you if it hurts or not.
I finally arrive at my new hell and shove the doors open. The bell rings throughout the halls and I sigh. Made it to school on time....late for class. I make my way to my new assigned locker and glance around the strangely empty hallways. Not a student or teacher in sight.
I exchange books and check my schedule. I have maths first. Ughh. I slowly try and find my way to what's supposed to be my new math classroom and nearly grin at the sight. Finally! The door opens and everyone looks over to me like I just committed a crime. Which I have...but not recently. So they wouldn't know anything.
"Ah, Miss Johnson I assume?" My teacher asks. I nod. "That's correct. Sorry I'm late sir." I apologize dryly. He waves me off. "No worries. First day, new school. I completely understand. You can take a seat beside Miss Caldwell." He instructs. A girl with glasses, freckles and pitch black hair raises her hand to wave at me.
I nod and quickly make my way over to my new seat, taking in the girl beside me. "Hey. My name is Bianca. I'll need your name, number, date of birth, social security number, address and the name of every person in your family. Along with your favorite color, food and animal." She says seriously. I stare at her in shock and confusion. Is she seri-
The girl suddenly bursts out laughing. "I'm kidding. I only need your name." She says, still chuckling. I frown. "Charlie." I say slowly, staring at the weird girl. She grins. "Is that short for something?" I nod. "Yeah. Charlotte Johnson. Nice to um...meet you." I say as kindly as I can. She smiles. "Sorry if I weirded you out. I'm relatively normal. Usually." She apologizes.
I nod. "It's fine. You just sounded so serious." She shrugs. "That was the point. So, have you found a tour guide yet, or is that spot still open?" Bianca asks me. I sigh. "Still open...as long as you don't plan to do a background check on me." I try and joke. She smirks. "No promises, Charlotte Johnson." She states, winking at me quickly before turning to face the front.

"Alright, I'm pretty sure we have like the exact same schedule so that's that. Bathroom is right around that corner to your right and the gossip bathroom is down the opposite way, near the entrance to the cafeteria." Bianca says casually. I nod and take another look around.
"Well, this will be hell." I state. She nods. "It's called school for a reason. Hey, I'll be right back. Bathroom run. Hold this?" She shoves her leather black bag and coffee cup into my arms and sprints down the hallway. She's a weird one. I turn to walk towards my next class but trip and fall onto the floor. "Ow." The floor complains.
I look down and realize just how close my face is to this guy that I landed on top of. I scramble up and apologize profusely. "Fuck. I'm honestly really sorry. I'm a clumsy idiot. That wasn't on purpose I promise just...please don't kill me?" I say hurriedly. The hot dude stands and eyes me up a down, slowly smiling.
"It's alright cutie. But it looks like you got a little something on your clothes." He says, nodding at my white shirt that my idiot self spilled Bianca's coffee on. "Fuck." I hiss. The boy glances at everyone and pulls me closer to him, blocking me from prying eyes and pulling me to the closest bathroom.
He pulls me into the ladies room and places me on the counter. "I'm fine." I say quickly. He looks once more at my see-through white top and raises an eyebrow. "If you want people staring at your grey bra all day, that's on you. But as a gentleman I won't allow that Cutie." He says.
He pulls his shirt off and throws it at me. I catch it and frown. "What about you?" I ask. He waves me off. "I have extra clothes in the locker room. Football team." He explains. "What...happened?" Bianca asks, stepping out of a stall. I blush.
"I spilled your coffee. Sorry." I say. She laughs. "No biggie. Out of the ladies room, Ashton Jones." She teasingly scolds the hot guy. "I'm being a gentleman Bi." He replies back with a smirk. She sighs and grabs his shoulders to spin him away from me. "She can't change if your sad excuse of gentleman eyes are staring at her." Bianca tells him.
I don't question their behavior with each other. I just slip out of my white shirt and pull Ashton's shirt over my head. "Done?" He asks. "Yeah..." I say, trailing off. Bianca and Ashton turn to face me. "You look ho-"
"So, want to tell me what happened?" Bianca asks me, shooting a slight glare at the boy. "I'm a clumsy idiot. Seriously, Ashton you should get out of the girl's bathroom." I remind him. He shrugs. "Alright. I'll see you later Bianca, new girl." He winks and walks out.
"What's your story?" I ask. Bianca laughs. "He's my half brother. We have the same father but, different mothers. Hence the different last names. But still siblings either way." She explains easily. I hop off the bathroom counter and nod. "Makes sense. I'm an only child." I inform her, even though she didn't ask and probably doesn't really care.
She chuckles. "Lonely childhood?" I nod. "Very." I say sighing. I've always wanted a brother or sister to be completely honest. It'd be nice having someone to talk to. Bianca tosses her now empty coffee cup into the trash and grabs her bag. "We should get to class." I nod and follow her to our next class, which is English.
"Bianca Caldwell, late as per usual. And you, are you my new student?" The grouchy looking teacher with a tight bun in her hair asks. I roll my eyes. "Don't know. Have you seen me in class before?" I retort. I'm honestly not in the mood. And Ashton's shirt smells good. Not that it matters what his shirt smells like!
Bianca snickers and pulls me to the back. "I wouldn't want to give you detention on your first day Miss Johnson." She warns. I mock frown. "No? Damn. And here I was, hoping I'd get to be cooped up in this hell hole an hour or two extra. Well, high hopes lead to farther falls." I say with a pout. Her face takes on a dark shade of red and her fists clench at her sides.
"I'll be seeing you after school Charlotte." She says distastefully. I grin wickedly. "Looking forward to it." I reply before turning to Bianca. "Death wish much." She says with a smile. I shrug. "Bad morning leads to bad day." I offer as explanation. She just shakes her head at me with a smirk and faces the front.
----------------------------------------
When the bell rings, signalling lunch, I let out a huge sigh of relief. Bianca laughs and pulls me to the lunch room and straight to a table in the back. Ashton and another boy already occupy the table and glance up upon our arrival.
"Hello Cutie." Ashton greets with a cocky smirk. I take a seat across from the other guy and barely spare Ashton a glance, scanning the cafeteria. "Looking for someone?" The other boy asks. I shake my head and face him. "Nope. Just eyeing my surroundings. Names Charlie. You are?" He smiles.
"Anthony. Nice to meet you. I'm guessing you're the girl who ran into my bro over here and spilled coffee on your shirt?" He says, clearly amused. I scoffed. "What gives you that idea?" I ask rhetorically. He nods at my outfit. "The shirt." He replies casually.
I honestly forgot I was wearing it. I look over at Ashton who's in conversation with Bianca. He clearly got a new shirt.
"Hello boys." A sultry voice says, ignoring Bianca and I completely. "Damn. Hello to you Claudia." Bianca mutters. The girl flips her golden blonde hair behind her shoulder and eyes Bianca and I with bitter eyes. "Yeah yeah. Hi Bianca. So, boys, I'm having a party at my house this weekend. Care to join. Ashton?" She asks, clearly hopeful.
Ashton shrugs. "Why not. Tony?" Anthony nods and they both turn to us. "You two wanna come?" Ashton questions. Claudia rolls her eyes in clear dislike of his question so I nod at Ashton and face the bitch. "hai un problema, tesoro?" (You have a problem, sweetie?) I enjoy the look of confusion and disgust on her face as she tries to figure out what I said.
"Was that an insult?" She spits. I snicker. "No." I answer truthfully. She huffs at me and turns to the boys with a bright smile. "Can't wait to see you there." She says sweetly before sauntering off. The group turns to me. "You speak something other then english?" Anthony asks.
I nod. "Yeah. My father is Italian and, well, grew up in Italy so he's taught me a lot of Italian. Otherwise, I took it upon myself to learn as much as possible." I explain. "You're half italian?" Bianca confirms. I nod. "Sì"
"What's the new girl is adorable in Italian?" Ashton asks, smirking. I blush and look down. "la nuova ragazza è adorabile" I mutter shyly. Bianca rolls her eyes at her brother's obvious flirting as he turns to Anthony. "Hey dude, did you know la nuova ragazza è adorabile." Anthony just laughs.
----------------------------------------
"Hey Tesoro, how was your day at school? First day go well? Minus being home two hours later than you should be." Dad asks when I walk through the doors. I shrug. "It was non movimentato. Minus detention" (Uneventful) I reply. "Hey papà, may I go to a festa tonight with some friends?" I ask hopefully.
He shrugs. "I don't see why not. Just let me know if you'll be staying elsewhere." He says. I grin and nod. "Great. Thanks Dad!" I yell, jogging up the stairs. I pull out my phone and text in the groupchat Bianca added me to after we exchanged numbers.
