Prologue
The stone streets bustled with life and energy as the festival carried on. Drinks and food were being inhaled like oxygen. Men, women, and children were gathering around fires, singing songs and telling tales. Even some of the towns guard had taken part in the activities and games. Lamp illuminated the streets and shops, decorations had been thrown about in a messy manner, and music could be heard from nearly every corner of the town. There was so much going on that no one noticed the bright flash in the sky. Soon after the flash came a loud cracking sound which sounded like lightning, and was at least five times louder. Most of the townsfolk covered their ears and drew their attention to the ball of purple-green light hurdling towards them at such a high speed that it broke the barrier of sound. Many of them ran for cover, while others could only watch in amazement. I know this, because I was there.
