First Day On The Job

I rushed around the small store, looking for the electric guitars. One of the customers lost the price tag on hers and since it was the first day, I hadn't known how much they cost or where to find them.

"It's 65 bucks." Miles yelled from the counter. "Unless you want a tune up and have it accessorized, then thats more."

I let out a small breath, leading the customer to Miles register. "Can you please get her what she needs, I need a lunch break." I said.

"Sure, could you get me something to?" Miles let out a sigh as he started tuning the guitar. "Its been a busy day."

"Sure." I left Miles with the customer, excited to get a fresh smell of the mid-day air. Spring brought such a pleasant feeling, kind of like ice cream in summer. Every season had there joy. Spring was the smells and feelings, winter was hot cocoa, summer was ice cream, fall was the bright colors.

I was lost in my thoughts, not even knowing what resteraunt to go to. I decided to go to burger king instead of McDonald's. I'm not a big fan of greasy food, so they weren't my favorite options. Chic-Fil-A was like McDonald's, the only difference is the taste and price of their food. Hooters, dare I step foot inside a place like that?

When I had entered, the smell of fresh food made my stomach growl. I examined the menu, one person standing in front of me. I was glad there was only one, especially since my stomach felt so empty.

I was having so much trouble looking for something to eat on the menu. It all looked so, not worth the money. "May I help you?" The cashier asked, a bit rudely.

"I would hope so." I said, dramatically acting worried. "One chicken sandwich and a large coke and one ten piece chicken nugget and a large sprite." I said, taking my phone out of my pocket and texting Miles that I was on my way.

I walked slowly back to the music shop, making sure all of the food was there. I scanned the area around me, not remembering anything around me. I swear I had gone this way, maybe I just had to keep walking?

Finally giving up and accepting I was lost, I stopped near a group of teens. There was three boys and two girls, all having blond hair. You could tell they were young, especially since they seemed to think they were cool, sitting on random junk on the side walk.

"Hey, do any of you know where the small music shop is?" I asked, holding eye contact with one of them, one that seemed to have a hint of dominance in his eyes.

"Your way the wrong way, dude." One of the girls said. Her voice was deep and sounded more like she was a complete goth, but no goth would sit on lost junk on the street unless it were in an alley, even then the chances were rare.

"Ya, we hit up that place every week for our guitars." The one that I had my eyes on, jumped from the window frame of the clothes shop. "Come on, we'll take you. If..." He said, but stopped.

"If?" I asked. I thought he would say right away, but he didn't. He signalled for his friends and they all started to follow him, me slowly following to. The if part was messing with me, what if it was something bad? I kept my promises, but sometimes people promised crazy stuff.

The teens slowed down, walking next to me. "I'm Nikki." The gothic one said. "The lead is Brandon, the youngest is Lace, The dufus is Rufus." She chuckled when the 'dufus' turned and glared at her. "Your girl is Katlen, she also is called Kate. We prefer Kate."

"Cool, I'm Freddy." I said. This walk was longer than I had expected, I was starting to doubt they were taking me to my destination.

"Like Freddy Ass Bear?" Brandon chuckled, keeping his eyes on the side walk. "What a shity name." He looked at me, his eyes looked dark and scary for some people.

"Its not ass and its not a shity name." Lace nudged Brandon, making Brandon hit Lace with his elbow. "Ow!" He yelped.

"Oh shut up." He said, as calm as could be. What time was it? Shouldn't they be in school?

"No! That hurt." Lace wined. Rubbing his side that had been hit. "God damn you, Brandon!" Jeez, they sure had a dirty mouth.

"Shut up you two." Kate growled, smacking both the back of their heads. "No one wants to listen to your ridiculousness." Seriously, shouldn't they be in school?

"You-" Rufus started, but was quickly cut off by me. I didn't mean to cut him off, he just kind of talked right when I had.

"Are we there yet?" I asked, feeling a bit stupid, but there was so way I walked this far in so little time. "Maybe we went a wrong way?"

"No, this was part of the if." Brandon said in a rather low tone, making me shake a bit. I guess I judged them sooner than I should have. They might not have been cool, but they weren't your average teens either.

"What do you mean, part of the if? I need to get back to the shop. Are we going there or not?" I felt as though this would end badly. Chances are I was walking right into a trap and that scared me most of all.

"You'll see." Kate chuckled, rather scary. They looked like a hipster group or maybe a hip hop dance team. They didn't seem like the types to do anything bad.

It felt kinda hard to breath as we walked up to an old abandon house. No way was I gonna keep calm anymore. The place looked like a haunted mansion. Just my luck.
