The Storm

It was A harsh storm. they Heavy Rains and winds made it nearly impossible to maneuver the small vessel. A single sailor stood on deck, desperately trying to get the sails off the mast.

A guest of wind nearly swept him overboard as he tried again and failed to get the vessel under control.

Waves crashed against the sailing boat, tossing it farther from land. It nearly seemed that the ocean was playing a game. Pushing him away from shore and then washing him nearer and back away.

Sweat dripped from his forehead mixing with the rain that had soak him.

A wave crashed on board crashing over the leather boots and soaking his pants in salt water.

As he heaved on the ropes desperately, an eerie voice called out over the waves. His heart stopped. A siren. One of the merfolk. Thinking quickly he ripped at his sleeves and stuffed the rough hemp into his ears.

That was his mistake.

While doing this he let go of the ropes and the wind whipped into the sail and knocked the boat over.

He fell into the water and came up coughing and sputtering.

The heavy material of his clothes soaked up water like a sponge and the hemp in his ears fell out.

And then, then he and the ship crashed into the rocks, where a siren was waiting for his remains
