His Amber Eyes

I blocked out everyone in the van, as xxxtentacion's voice blasted through my headphones. I focused on nothing but the lyrics of his songs as I stared out the window.

We were all currently in Daniel's range rover since everyone was too lazy to drive after soccer practice. This was our usual routine on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. I always stay back to watch the boys which is why I am also here.

Jordan wrapped an arm around my shoulders and I turned to face him while unplugging my headphones. "You okay?" He asked with a concerned look on his face.

"I'm fine, just super pissed at my dad right now," I responded with hatred painted over my words. "I'll be fine, I just need some time to chill."

Nathan and I had just found out our dad had been cheating on our mother and it just so happens to be with the woman who's hates me the most. My history teacher, Mrs Mavis. The woman was married and so was my dad, so what the hell were they thinking? I'm betting she's only after his money.

"Okay babe," was Jordan's response as he pulled me closer into his chest and kissed the top of my head. I inhaled his cologne and drowned in his warmth. He always made me feel better.

My thoughts had drifted so far I didn't even realize when we got to my house. I quickly exited the car and dashed up the stairs to my room once I entered the house. I plopped down on my bed and laid there for a good half hour until there was a knock on the door.

"Mel, it's Nathan. Can you open the door please?" When I didn't respond Nathan continuously knocked on the door knowing damn well how much it annoyed me. I hesitantly got off the bed to open the door.

"What?" I asked nonchalantly. He stood there staring at me for a few moments before he spoke. "Mom and dad went out. They won't be back until about 12 so, what do you want for dinner?" He asked. Knowing that my mom was out with that lying, cheating bastard got me even more aggravated than I already was.

"Can we just order pizza?"

"Sure,"he answered. "Oh and Jordan said he wanted to come over, if that's okay with you. He really wants to make sure you're okay." I smiled at how caring Jordan was. I was such a lucky girl. Jordan was also my brother's best friend and I know he too really wanted the company.

"He can come," I gave him a small smile.

"Sweet. I'll tell the guys you said they can come." I rolled my eyes at my brother but smiled regardless. How was he so calm about the situation? Well my father disliked us both, so maybe this was a good thing? Maybe then we could just live happily with mom? With that thought I was a bit more optimistic about the situation.

"It will be okay you know?" Nathan smiled at me. " I know," I smiled back. He moved closer to me and pulled me into a hug. I really did have the best brother in the world.

The guys and the pizza got here pretty quickly and we headed straight for the gaming room. Pizza, controllers and drinks were passing around like crazy. And this, unfortunately, was a usual occurence on Friday nights. I laid in Jordan's arms unbothered by what was going on around me.

"Mel, can you get us some more drinks and snacks please?" Ryder asked with a cheeky smile. "Why do I always have to get the snacks?"

"Cause you love us?" Ryder's smile grew wider in hopes that I would get up. "Nope. I don't," I said bluntly. Nathan then spoke up "Cause if one of us gets up, we're eating all the gummy bears." And with that I was off the couch and was already heading up the stairs to the kitchen.

"Can one of you at least come help me?" In one swift motion Daniel was off the couch and standing next to me. "I'll go," he said. "My legs were starting to cramp up anyways." And that is why he was my best friend.

Gotta love a Daniel.

Once we got to the kitchen I grabbed some drinks from the fridge and handed them to Daniel who was already carrying the snacks. That's for making me get up.

"So you're gonna make me carry everything?" He glared at me but smiled nonetheless. "Yup," I said grinning popping the 'p'. "That's for making me-,"

A booming voice cut me off. "You think I don't know you are still sleeping with him?!" His voice raised with anger. "That's my brother Carol for god sake!"

"I'm not fucking sleeping with Stephen you dick. I wouldn't do that to you because I actually know what loyalty is unlike you who's been sleeping around with Samantha." Mom yelled at him.

"Shut up. The kids are probably sleeping. You're gonna wake them." He whisper-screamed at her.

"Oh so you don't want your kids to know you're an asshole!" mom yelled even louder this time.

The boys came running up the stairs to see what was going on.

"Carol shut up," dad spat out.

"What the fuck is going on," Nathan's voice was hard and cold.

"Nothing," dad reciprocated his tone.

"Don't fucking tell me nothing when y'all are screaming at the top of y'all lungs at 1am"

"Where are you going mom?" Everyone's attention turned over to my mother who was currently walking out the door.

"Don't worry baby, I'm just going to spend the night at grandma's. I'll be back in the morning."

"Promise?" I asked hopefully with tears already running down my face.

"Promise," she kissed the top of my head and walked out the door leaving us in a tension filled silence.
