"How I ever managed to stop reading this book when I absolutely HAD to, I have no idea! It drew me in right from the start with the fantastic (but not overpowering) descriptions, and from that point on I was hooked! But, even though it's a story that is difficult to put down, it still cannot be rushed. Every word needs to be savoured and understood. I loved the idea of Thorians being able to read one another's minds, and of thoughts being transferred between the characters with the aid of the necklace of claws from the slain bears. The excitement and drama, the romance, the terror of the young women 'tributes' as they were led into the unknown, the threat of the revolt from cities of women. all made this book another outstanding master-piece from this skilled author. A brilliant tale! I am so eager to read the next book in the series."

Eh! For me it started off OK, but after they chopped off their hair, I should have Monique and her where going to get the shrt of the stick. Well written, but for someone that said mom grew up there, he still used them as PONS and that was disappointing and I thought Stoker & Monique would up together or she would at least a love interest, but get wasn't happening. Sad really.
"I disliked how Monique and her warrior sisters, were used as Pons. And in the end they didn't really gain a whole lot. Their hair was cut off, and I should known something was going sideways after that.Then although they were supposed to have never seen a "real man" the story made them seem a little thirsty. I thought Stoker and Monique would end up together, but I guess he was just using her for his own gain. The story although well written, the plot was Disappointing."
