They look at her with smirks as her cold eyes drift over everyone of their faces, committing them to memory. Her hands were restrained behind her back by one of their group members, and he wasn’t letting up anytime soon by the feel of it. She tries to ignore their stares as they judge her silently, torturing her without having to say or do anything. The leader of the group looks her up and down with gleaming eyes. His hand twitches by his side, and the next thing she knows, a fist is flying towards her face and pain surges at her cheek, her teeth colliding with each other as it scratches against her inner cheek, making blood spill out of her mouth and onto the cracking pavement. I hold back my anger as I clench my eyes shut in pain, the ringing in my ears starting to get annoying. He could pack a punch, I’ll give him that. The guy that is behind me raises my head up and the group leader glares at me.
“So what they said is true, you really make no sound.” He says thoughtfully as if he just now realized something. I roll my eyes at this, so what I’m quiet, it didn’t mean I didn’t speak. Some people just don’t deserve my words, I think as I look at him. He turns towards his friends with a grin, “Turns out Ceric was right, surprisingly.” He muttered the last part quietly to himself, the others roll their eyes at this as they look to each other.
“Ceric is always right, you just never listen to him Tanner.” One of the girls say as they take something out of their back pocket, my vision becoming too blurry for me to see what she holds, but I soon found out as she drags the object across my right cheek, making pain surge to my face as she draws blood. I grit my teeth as she looks at me with her eyes, eyes that hold so much anger towards me that I almost recoil. Key word, almost. Once I realized why they must be here, ‘dealing with me’, I knew why they were all so angry with me.
“You can be mad at me all you want, but it’s not going to change anything, what’s done is done.” I say with a dead voice, showing them that I didn’t care, which was probably not the best idea since she was holding a fairly sharp object to my face. She growls and goes to put the knife to my neck, but Tanner stops her.
“No, no, she’s right. What’s done is done, and it can’t be taken back now. But that doesn’t mean we can’t show her how we feel, we’ve got time to spare and a target before us, I say we let out some anger.” Tanner says with a grin and looks to the others, who voice their agreement. He turns back towards me with emotionless eyes and an ear splitting grin on his face.
“Well, let’s begin.” He says and the next thing I know, my head is being thrown towards a knee and my vision goes black.
I awake a few hours later, I think. The sun was up when they started to attack me, and now, well it is now pitch black. I let out a groan of pain as I feel every part of my body ache. They certainly didn’t hold back, not that I would blame them, if I were them I would do the same. My head aches as I try to keep my eyes open, my left one completely swollen shut. I slowly but surely get up off the pavement, which is now a deep red from the blood that escaped my body. I look down at my body, and my eye landed on my disfigured leg. The idiots broke it, and I wouldn’t be surprised if they broke other things too. I could feel a pinch in my chest as I breathed in, and I silently cursed to myself. The things that I would do to them after this. I grumble some not-so-child-friendly words to myself as I reach my unbroken hand into my back pocket and grab my phone. I go to my contacts and call the only person I can, the only one that I know can help me. I press the contact and hit call. It rings a few times until the person on the other side picks up, his voice husky from being woken up.
“Yea?” His voice says and I relax upon hearing his voice, everything was going to be fine, because I knew we would take care of it, together.
“I need you to come get me, I’ve got a broken leg, some cracked ribs, and a possible concussion.” I say in a hoarse voice, I guess the girl might have cut my throat a bit anyways, because my hand was bright red after I touched it to my neck.
“What the hel-, okay I’ll be right there. Where are you?” I hear rustling from his end and realize that he must be dressing as fast as he can.
“I’m in the alley of Rickos’ Bar.” I say tiredly and hear him shut a car door.
“Ceric’s gang jumped you in Rickos’ Bar, they’ve got some balls doing that.” He mutters to himself and I let out a small chuckle.
“No, they jumped me a few blocks away from Ricko’s Bar, after they finished the job they must have dumped me here so no one would see.” I explain with a cough, the pinch in my chest starting to get worse as I continue to breathe.
“They knocked you out?” He asks seriously and I roll my eyes at him.
“Yeah, Tanner’s definitely worked on his punch since the last time we saw him.” I say as I touch my jaw with a wince, the last memory before I blacked out coming back to me, playing in my head.
“His nerve, he thinks he’s safe. No one is safe here in Rose Blood, not while Ceric is around.” He says and I nodded my head in agreement, forgetting that he can’t see me.
“Well stick to the plan and he won’t be around much longer. Once everything locks into place, it’s our time to attack. We just have to be ready.” I say as I see a black car pull up. He hangs up and opens the door, hopping out of it and rushing to my side.
“You okay?” He asks as he helps me get in. I nod with a small smile at him,
“Yeah, I’m okay, totally not bleeding internally or anything. Perfectly fine.” I say as sarcastically as I can, laughing out loud at the terror than went across his face.
“Doctor Marge it is.” He says as he shuts the door and jogs to the other side.
