Chapter one
Alice woke up to the sound of her alarm buzzing, she rolls over and looks at the time, 6:00am, and turns it off, lays back on her pillow she then Stretches her back and thinks to herself, today is my first day in New York, class doesn't start till tomorrow morning at 8am.
I still can't believe I made it in to the Quinn international Dance School and company, or as it's known in the dance world at QIDS. Well enough laying here time to start the day she grabs the blanket and tossing it off her body and sets her bare feet on the cold floor and stands up to start heading to the attach bathroom.
As she reaches the door she closes it behind her, looks in the mirror and sees her long Auburn hair is a knotted mess and notices the slight dark circles under her bright green eyes, she pulls out her hair brush starting to brush out the knots once; all the knots are gone so she starts braiding it into a fishtail style braid. Then putting on a little Concealer under her eyes to hide the dark circles, then goes to add just a little natural color eyeshadow on her lids and some mascara, next she adds a little blush to her cheeks and some light pink lip gloss to finish it off.
leaving the bathroom and heads to her closet in the corner of her room she pulls out a cute blue and green flower pattern high-low sundress with halter top Straps and a pair of tan open toe flat sandals, and changes out of her Colorado engles hockey team t-shirt and a pair of blue pj's shorts.
After she gets dressed she heads down the hall of the two bedroom apartment that belongs to her aunt cynthia who now lives in New Orleans with husband number three, her aunt told her when she got in the Qids. that she wouldn't have to worry about a place to live because her aunts apartment building was two blocks away from the school and was already paid for the next three years.
but if alice wanted she could rent out the second bedroom if she needed a little extra spending money.
When alice walks in the kitchen she heads straight to the coffee maker on the counter, pops in the coffee pod and puts her coffee cup her little 12 year brother Ethan and her 10 year sister Zoey give her for 19th birthday two years ago.
and turns around to the open the freezer and pulls out a frozen breakfast burrito and then grabs a plate from the cupboard and puts it in the microwave, after it's done cooking and her coffee is ready Alice takes both in her hands and sits down at the island in the kitchen with its high bar stools and eats her breakfast, when she's just about done her phone rings in her room and she knows it's her mom calling by the luke Bryan song playing. She rushes back to her room to answer the call.
HI MOMMA, Alice says:
Hi sweetheart, her mom Carol says on the other side of the call , I hope I didn't wake you up she asks with concern:
No momma you didn't, but why are you up so early it's like 4am back home alice asks, is Ethan and Zoey alright ? What about dad ? She asks quickly...
Everyone is perfectly fine honey, I just wanted to talk with you before you have Orientation today and make sure your aunt cynthia place is good enough for my baby girl, Carol adds
Oh okay, well aunt cynthia place is great , I'm almost completely unpacked and I've even set up my dance bag with everything I will need, last night before I went to bed, but I'm glad I came a week early so I could get settled and know how to get to the school, the theater hall and where to get groceries from when I need to.
plus they will deliver your bags to the apartment building for you so you don't have to carry all the bags yourself, aunt cynthia had a tabb with them and added me on it so all I have to do is pick out what I need and grab it and they will bring it to the apartment building.
It's all so fancy compared to going to Walmart in town.. and I'm excited for orientation today that starts in about a hour and half , also I think I'm going to look at possibly getting a roommate if I like any of the girls from school. Alice tells her mom:
Well that all sounds good to me honey, I and then Corrects herself and says we all miss you but I'll let you go, and good luck and call me or your dad later tonight,Carol says:
Will do , give everyone my love talk later momma: alice says and then says goodbye and hangs up the phone.
Alice heads back to the kitchen to clean up her mess, after she puts her dishes in the sink. She walks into the living room and grabs her pink and black duffel bag with all of her dance gear in it, and sits down on the loveseat as she pulls on the zipper to open it and double check that she as all she needs in it for class tomorrow.
her two pairs for ballet flats and her two pair of point shoes with her toe pads.
Toe tape and Bandaids, small sewing kit. protein bars her two pairs of extra tights in skin tone as well as pink,
hair ties, deodorant, leg warmers, her two tie on skirts in black and pink. Her warm up gear.
Yep, that's everything other then my water bottle that's currently sitting on the counter she says to herself.
She looks at the time on her phone and sees that orientation starts in 45 mins, yes she only lives two blocks away and that's about 10-15 minutes walking with traffic , but she would either be early then late.
So she heads back to her bedroom and grabs her small crossbody bag , puts her phone and her lip gloss from the bathroom in the bag , double checks that her wallet and keys are inside as well, and zips it up, then swings it on over her head and pulls her braid out from under the strap and walks back down the hall to the kitchen and grabs her water bottle and moves her dance bag closer to the front door.
but doesn't take it with her, She opens the door of the apartment and walks out shutting it behind her and locks it then makes her way to the elevator down three doors to the right from her apartment door, pushes the down button on the elevator, and waits for it to open, when it does the elderly lady walking out of it is her aunt cynthia's next door neighbor who lives right across the hall,
Mrs. Burns, is a very nice lady but the building's gossip queen she knows something about everyone in the building,

where are you off too this early my dear ? Mrs.burns asks:
I'm off to my orientation for school and unfortunately I'm running late, I would love to chat if I had the time Alice says as she walks into the elevator and quickly pushes the button for the lobby:
Oh good luck dear, mrs. Burns says as the doors of the elevator closes:
Thanks you Alice shots though the closing doors: once closed alice let's out a sigh. That lady would talk your ears off if you let her and normally I would listen for a little while, but today I don't have the time she says in her head.
When the doors of the elevator open again on the third floor and Alice sees this hot guy waiting to get on all she can think is "oh my God " he looks like a Greek god mixed with a bad boy from a romcom. This guy had shoulder length dirty blonde hair, and about 6'1 and amazing fit in his sleeveless shirt with some band name on it That Alice didn't recognize paired with a pair of shorts and sneakers. plus a strong jawline that looked like it could cut glass, a gorgeous smile with those kissable lips that makes every girl swoon, and the most deep blue eyes Alice has ever seen.
with in the 10 seconds alice took this man in as he stepped into the elevator with her and the doors start to close aging , he guys says to her I've never seen you here before with his somewhat deep voice that makes Alice stomach full with butterflies.
she now looks over to him has he is leaning on the side wall of the elevator Staring at her in all of her 5'7 and is focusing in on her bright green eyes then to her slightly natural pouting bottom lip.
I just moved in this week Alice soft voice says , I'm starting school here tomorrow is my first day she says with a little more confidence in her voice.
He nods and says that's very nice, by the way my name is Ian.
Alice she says: it's very nice to meet you Ian with a smile,
What floor do you live on and would you like to get coffee with me ? Ian asks with a bit of a wink
Alice let's out a small giggle and then says I live on the 5th floor and as much as I would like to , I can't miss my orientation. But maybe another time?
He looks down her body and the back up to her face and says 5th floor very nice didn't realize they had a opening most of the floor has lived her for years they normally don't let new people move in there, how did to manage that? And as for another time, i can work with that I'm in my third year so i understand school things.
His voice booming with confidence making the butterflies in her stomach Flutter even more. Before she could explain how she lives on the fifth floor he walks out the elevator open doors into the lobby and turns around to wink at her again and says I'll see you around Alice from the 5th floor and walks away across the lobby and out the main door,
while Alice is just standing starstuck in the elevator and when the doors start to close again Alice puts her hand in the way to stop them from closing and then walks out of the elevator into the lobby and stops at the front desk.
the lady at the desk is not much older than Alice with short brown hair and and brown eyes with freckles across her nose and her name tag as Taylor writn on it.
Taylor looks up from her computer and see Alice standing in front of the desk and say's :how may I be have help miss ?
Alice says to Taylor : I was wondering if I had any mail waiting for me ?
What apartment number Taylor asked:

Taylor looks behind her in the mail slots and the turns back to Alice to say none at this time , but the mail is normally delivered around 2pm so I would check back later .
Thanks you Alice says and then starts walking to the main door and opens her bag and checks the time on her phone.
she has 25 mins till orientation starts at 8am so she quick puts her phone back in her bag with the sound down and zips the bag back up and starts walking quickly to the school that's two blocks away to the left side of her apartment building.
When she get to the front of the school she let's out a giggle then heads to the front door and see the crowd of people standing in line to check in before orientation beings.
