A short story
She's used to being alone. She was abandoned by whom she used to call her friends. Abandoned by the people that used to love her, but left and never looked back. She was neglected by her own children that she raised. She was once glorious and admirable, but now she's stranded, forsaken, forgotten.
She's lost, lost in silence only hearing the words of the swaying trees, the howlings of the winds, the clicks of the street lights; flickering on in the night and the few voices of the people that still deal with her.
She wasn't always alone. Back, when she was in her prime time she was filled with laughter and joy from the boys playing basketball, from the little girls playing hopscotch and jump rope on the cracked sidewalks, from the parties that were thrown every night by the gangsters in the trap house, from the barbeques, from the long summers to street fights and shoot outs, from "Mother May I" to " Red Light Green Light and street races ( the best childhood games). She was filled with the little girls growing up too fast, boys thinking they were men; leaving the earth to soon. She was filled with loss and hardships, playfulness and rejoice, "Congratulations" and "I'm sorry".
She is my friend
I've known her all my life, for i know every curve and crack of her body, every cut that's hidden. She's not astonishing nor striking but she used to be beautiful in her own way. She had glorious trees that were fluorescent around her. My friend was natural (as some might say), she had colorful flowers like rainbow freckles complimenting her skin. When I went outside, her scent of nature converged into one, filling me with joy, making me feel relaxed. It was like her own natural perfume.
Like always, nothing lasts. My friend is becoming of age, she has cracks that resembles wrinkles in her skin. The beautiful trees that she bloomed are now old and withered, the smell that she carried faded away; no longer smelling the mornimg dew, but feeling the cold air knocks you down when coming outside. It seems my neighbors have noticed also. Over the years i witnessed people moving in and out of my friend's life because she's changed too much. Neighbors became strangers and abandoned thier house for a stranger to be a new neighbor, but sometimes the house would be unlucky being vacant and being torn down because of it. As I look at her now I see a gloomy street with muddy and lumpy empty spaces of homes that used to be a part of her she's now what you call
Unattractive.
Even though she lost her spark and everyone else
She's family.
Though I must leave also, I will never forget the way She comforted me with her magnificent trees, the light rains she summoned; calming me down. The people she brought together making a community, the memories that she helped me make I would never forget her. She's my street and though she's usee to being alone
This time is different because she's still in my memories.

Good reflections.
