1. Cheating, eating and drinking

I've never been a superstitious person. I live by facts, articles, evidence that something is real. I don't believe in a higher power, someone looking over us up there in the clouds. I think everyone is free to believe in what they want, to do whatever makes them happy but me and the lord up there – it's just not happening.

So, I don't believe in a bearded man chilling up there with his angels, rolling a dice, deciding, where the next earthquake hits. However, I do believe in destiny and that everything happens for a reason. If one door closes another one is spread wide open, waiting for you to go through it and ready to lead you in the right direction.

Which is why I am currently sitting on my couch, in my pajamas that I haven't changed out of in two days, an open vodka bottle and various tubs of ice-cream, trying to understand what exactly fate was trying to tell me by letting me find my boyfriend of two years between the legs off a red-headed bimbo. I was really trying and while I was continuously eating my ice-cream, the only thing happening in my brain was the constant brain freeze I got. No epiphany, no enlightenment, no realization. Nothing, nada, niente. I had no clue how this was supposed to bring me on the right path.

I was doing good. I mean really good. I just finished High School and was ready to start a new chapter in my life. College. My older sister Tammy told me a lot about it, and it seemed like it mostly involved drinking, partying and sleeping with random people. After hearing that, I was more than glad to have Travis, because College boys didn't seem like they were dying to be in a committed relationship throughout their wildest years of life. Apparently, Travis thought the same.

So here I was, spending my saturday night as a newly single 19-year-old, watching the vampire diaries, fantasizing over Damon and his panty-dropping smirk.

"Lucky bitch" I muttered while seeing Stefan and Damon fighting over Elena. What did she have that I didn't? I can't even keep my boyfriend from cheating on me and she has two hot dudes pining after her.

"Are you talking to yourself again? Jeez, Isla it smells like a fucking bar in here what did you do?"

I looked at my roommate and best friend for five years, while she steps through the door into our apartment.

"Better question is what did he do.." I said with a quivering voice, while tearing up again.

"Oh no he didn't. I fucking warned that bastard. I'm going to kick my foot so far up his ass he will smell the nail polish from the pedicure I just got, I swear. "

That's my best friend for you, always had her way with words. No wonder she is majoring in english.

"It's ok Ruby, it's not like I wasn't expecting this. I mean it is college, he is obviously not going to stay with one girl and miss the opportunity to sleep around." I tell her somehow trying to make this situation less painful than it is.

"Hell no Isla, don't try to find excuses for him. Even if he didn't want to stay in a committed relationship, he should've told you and not fuck around like a pubescent little teenager that can't keep his dick in his pants!" she yelled.

I could literally see the smoke coming out of her ears and her head looked like it was about to explode. But that's not what I wanted nor needed in this situation.

"Can we just not talk about this? I already had this conversation with ice-cream and vodka and we came to the agreement that they will help me get over this." I told her while pouring another drink.

"I hope this plan involves me." She says while getting another glass and sitting down next to me.

"Of course, I mean you are my drinking buddy. Nobody else can play beer pong the way you do." I say, smiling at the memories of her last birthday party.

"I mean I am pretty damn good, aren't I. What a pleasure it must be to exist in a time where I exist." she says, while looking dreamily at her manicured nails.

I start laughing and shaking my head at her conceited self. That's exactly what I love about Ruby. She doesn't take shit from others and lives her life the way she wants to. She is indeed a delight to be around and makes me smile even when I feel like absolute shit.

So we end up drinking our problems away. Vodka, my best friend, ice-cream and a beautiful Damon Salvatore can work wonders.

So, hello? Where is my vampire?

Who would've known that he was just waiting around the corner.
