Chapter 1

Yeah yeah, normal day at school. Whatever. Most people would roll their eyes and move on, but this was not a good day. At least so far… and it was only the first block at school. Here… I’ll start with a description of myself first to give you a kinda heads up of what’s going on.

THINGS TO KNOW ABOUT ME:

-Kind (at least I think and hope so)

-Very misunderstood and confusing - most people stay away from me due to my strange nature

-I forget everything… can’t remember my locker combination, forget people’s names all the time, hardly remember my own birthday. It kinda sucks.

-To go along with the forgetfulness… I’m always untidy. Which may just be a side effect or something like that. I don’t have a clue, nor do I care enough to see if I have some stupid medical condition.

Uhhhh also appearance. I forgot about that. Lessee here, I have this dark-ish brown hair that I hate to worry about. It always gets tangled up and I don’t want to deal with it so my mom puts it up in a braid or ponytail when she has time. Which most of the time, she doesn’t, so all I can do is have it hang in front of my face so that I can look more ominous and idiotic. Height… uhhhh, I don’t know how to explain. I’m taller than some people, but not many. Last time I checked, I was 5’3’’ and a half. See, again, hard to explain. Taller than some but shorter than most. My friends don’t tower over me per say, they’re just… taller. No one has bothered to make fun of my height (yet) so that’s a plus. Like, the 5’ people call me tall, but I take that as a compliment so I’m fine with that part.

Overall, I don’t look like I have stilts under my pant legs, nor do I look like I’ve grown up under a brick. To people that don’t understand what I just said there, I’ll summarize it for you. Flat things live under bricks. Because they’re squished. Because bricks are heavy and flat. Making you squish. Or be squished. Whatever. Back on topic…

Sooooooooo, more info (I know you want me to shut up but I don’t give a fuck). My friend jar quantity equals to approximately 10 people. It rounds up. My jar actually has 9.83 people in it, but that’s about 10 of them. Okay this is getting weird sounding. No I don’t put people in a legit jar, we just call our group “The Jar” and the .83 of a person is actually my boyfriend’s greyhound. Its name is Frito. And you’re probably all now like “ooh she’s got a boyfriend!!!” I’ve been with him for 3 years. Give me a break. It’s just normal stuff. By the way, his name is Carleton.

As of everyone else in The Jar… there’s Luke, Ezra, Sarah, Hazel, Callie, Oliver, Caitlyn, and April. Not much.

Stumbling into class, I look around at everyone quietly working on their warm ups from the board. Mrs. Posvar looked up from her computer and glared at me.

“Late again, Virginia?”

I stared at the floor in dismay. “Sorry Ma’am. I forgot my book from my locker and had to go get it.”

“Excuses!” my teacher spat. “Detention again!”

I trudged to my seat, hearing the murmurs from the other kids, catching things like “idiot” and “fourth time this week”. Jeez, I know that I can be stupid. But it was just a book, for god sake. Cut me some slack. I slowly took out my notebook, trying to ignore the snickers from the jerk that sits beside me.

“What’s your problem?” Heather asked snarkily. I shrugged. “Well you better get back in shape with your grades or else you are getting put into baby classes.”

“As if this isn’t already,” I mumbled, but she didn’t flinch so I assume she didn’t hear me. Why does everyone think they can be my mom and convince me to do well in school? As far as im concerned, I'm doing fine.

"It doesn't matter where you belong anyways. I could get in your boyfriend's pants before you could even bat an eye." She added.

What the actual fuck? Putting my pencil on the paper, a terrible feeling washed over me. The room started spinning and the next thing you know, I’ve got my pencil pointing straight at Heather’s throat. She screamed.
