A dream come true

Aunt May carefully opened all her presents until she came across a silver envelope

Across the front where the words......... To my beloved Mable

She excitedly opened the envelope and carefully pulled out some paperwork, she couldn't believe her eyes! inside were the deeds to Thorney cottage.

Just a few months later they packed up and moved in.

After a few hours travelling with their belongings the couple pulled up outside the cottage. Alfred turned off the engine and the couple just sat and admired thier dream. Finally the rest they had been longing for.

"So Mabel are we ready?" asked uncle Alf in a calming but excited tone. Aunt may got out of the car and walked towards the front gate pulling her case behind her. "Come on Alfred let's get inside" she shouted.

Thorny cottage needed a little bit of work, so the next morning the couple got straight to it. Uncle Alf grabbed his trusty tool box and fixed The front gate with a new hinge and gave it a lick of white shiny paint. He added some yellow gravel stones to the front path and glossed the front door a shiny red.

He replaced a few loose tiles on the roof and nailed down some slats of wood on the back patio. Anything to put a smile on aunt Mays face.

Auntie Mabel dusted from top to bottom, whilst tibbles had his pick of mice to chase. After all the hard work the cottage was gleaming. May popped the kettle on the hob to warm and baked a few of her custard cream biscuits. 6 o clock arrived and Alf put down his hammer and they sat on the swing chair on the back patio. Tibbles sat with them and enjoyed his saucer of milk. Uncle Alf placed his arm around His loving wife and whispered "I love you Mabel Robinson" , "always have and always will" A gleaming smile filled her face and she placed her head on His shoulder. She replied "I love you too Alfred Robinson ". They gazed across the fields of bright green grass and sat in contentment as they enjoyed each other's company in this perfect bliss.

"Well Mabel I think these empty fields need a splash of colour!". "I shall get straight to it in the morning and fix myself up With a shed to work from"."Well" she replied in a stern but calming voice "now don't you be working too hard Alfred! you've done enough of that over the years, take it at a steady pace and mind your bad back"

"Oh don't fuss Mabel. I'll be fine!! Said Alf.

The couple retired to their cosy beds and slept peacefully till sunrise.
