Prologue

I knew I shouldn’t be driving my mother’s car but the thrill was just amazing it was the thrill I was waiting for. Being able to escape from all of my school problems. Driving with the windows down feeling the wind on my face as I drive as fast as I can. Seeing streaks of colorful lights as I drive through all the traffic lights. I’ll be caught soon I know it. Either by the cops or someone who’s most likely part of the law.

All of a sudden I heard the sounds of sirens and I realized I was right once I looked behind me and saw the flashing red and blue lights of a cop car. After seeing those light I realized would get in some huge trouble with the cops and my mother. I decided that I should stop driving the car so I won’t get in huge trouble from running from the cops. I quickly slammed on the breaks and the car made a sudden Screech!

“Ahhhhh!!!” Screamed a boy

For a few seconds after hearing that boy I wondered why did the boy scream?, but I quickly realized I had ran into him. Soon after a lady in her mid 70s to my left on the sidewalk grabbed out her phone from her purse with her trembling hands that couldn’t stop.

“Hello 911… A boy got hit by a car and he looks in really bad shape.” blurted the old lady

I could only hear the first part of the conversation that she had with the people on the phone. Though soon after her conversation everything went by so fast. The ambulance came right away because where I crashed the car was just a few miles from the hospital. The officer from the cop car that was chasing me came out of the car and went over to mine.

“Get out of the car please hun.” asked a kind lady wearing a dark blue cop uniform.

I slowly opened the car door put one foot down on the street that I almost couldn’t see because it was pitch dark outside. The same lady who spoke to me grabbed me by the arm and pulled me out. Once I was out she handcuffed me and walked me to the cop car. As I was escorted to the car I passed the boy that was around my age, and saw that he was bloody, unconscious, and definitely had some broken bones. I didn’t see his face though which was kind of disappointing to me because even after what I wanted to say sorry.

We arrived at the car and I got in the back that was separated from the front part of the car. She was being really nice to me even after I stole a car while drinking alcohol, drove way over the speed limit, and hit a kid with that car. It seemed like a long ride going from the accident to the police station.

“Get out. We’re here.” Said the officer

Once I got out I saw that I was correct we are at a police station. That’s probably where they were going to hold me until it was figured out on what sentence I was going to get.

“You’re going to be staying here until we figure out what to do with you.” Snapped a male officer.

“Ok…” I mumbled looking away wondering if I’ll ever be able to see my mother, sister, or my best friend Ben.

He closed the door of the small bland room after a few minutes of awkwardness just staring at each other in complete silence. He seemed more strict than the girl officer. After a bit, he closed the door and I sat on the chair just staring at the door thinking about what would happen or what’s happening. Like if the officers are telling my mother all the gruesome details about what had happened. I knew once she found out what I did she would probably be really confused on why I did this crime. Though I don’t even know why I did this; I just need an escape from all of the problems I have. From all of the people who make fun of me or joke about me I mean high schoolers can be quite harsh.

Another Half

Heika van Walderveen: I had to get used to the style. It’s a lot of switching and getting back into the story of the characters. Also the different timelines were a bit confusing in the beginning. But once you’re used to it, it’s really quite original. The plot is good, but it’s only book 1 (out of 3), but so far so good...

Taste of Passion

musa moo: Its a sweet story. The writing is very good. The only thing I found wanting was the structurisation. Whenever there was a change in scenario or situation, I wish there was some kind spacing or something to indicate that there's a change ahead. Because of that it became a bit confusing in the middle ...
