The start (I)

I had a loving family, we were very close. My parents were dairy farmers and made a living off their job that gave me and my two siblings a comfortable up bringing. Living in the country was awesome and fun in the 90s with unlimited things to do on sunny days. It brought us to be a close nit family.

My eldest sibling Sasha was our protector whilst out parents were at work and we came home from school. She being three years my senior she held a lot of respect with our younger sibling, Cain, as well as myself.

Cain being the youngest and the only boy my father was very proud of him. He would be the one who carried on our rare last name Fern. My dad's sibling had girls, so my brothers were cherished throughout out extended relations. We're only a year and a half apart and bickered and faught like nothing.

My name is Thea, I was in my mid teens and nearing the age where I would be able to shift and find my destined mate that the gracious Mood Godess had chosen for me. I could wait because of all the stories that I grew up listening to were so beautiful I was such a hopeful romantic.

My sixteenth birthday came and so did my first shift. My family drove to a secluded road in the tarawera forest before my first shift. We set up a camp there for the night. I was blessed with a full moon the night before my birthday. My father, Van, would be with me and guiding me through my shift.

Once midnight came within the first minute I started getting hot flushes. Then while my body was burning up and feeling the aches of my bone shifting. My father hugged me from behind, saying things in a calm and soothing tone.

"Let yourself relax Thea. Don't try and fight your body for control. Ride the waves of what your body wants to do" My father was saying.

As I had done what he advised me to do I felt a sharp snapping feeling of my bones causing me to scream.

"Thats it Thea your doing great. Our first shift is the worst one. Our body is not used to the shifting of bones when we shift for the first. Don't hold back, welcome it." My father continued, trying to calm me and distract me from my pain.

The more I let this process happen the more the pain had become. Then my teeth started hurting as my canines had started to grow. The fur coming through my skin was the last thing I remember before I was standing on all fours. My father still holding on to me in my wolf form around my neck.

"You did very will my daughter." Father said a minute after I had shifted and all was calm. He was stepping away as he admired my wolf. "You are magnificent." He continued.

My wolf was of pure white with a light grey chest I notice as I looked down my front. I walked around in a circle to test out my new legs. Then I heard a voice inside my head.

"Hello Thea. It's nice to finally be out. My name is stealth." My wolf was introducing herself to me. "It's nice to meet you Stealth." I replied.

I looked up at my father who was starting to strip into his boxes and said "We need to take you for a run." Then he shifted. He took off running and I took the invitation to follow him. Stealth wanted to streach her legs and feel the dirt benether her. She was excited, energetic and very confident with her speed in the night time, not taking long before catching up with father.

We were out for a couple of hours then we went to our campsite to introduce my mum and siblings to Stealth. My mum had two piles of clothing, one for my dad and one for myself. She told me to go behind the tent to shift and change. I looked up at her with confusion in my eyes. "Think of your human body and let yourself to change into that body. It is as simple as it sounds." She had told me.

Before falling asleep I could help but smile as I close my eyes, my thoughts were filled with happiness and hope. I am of age to find my mate. My sister was sixteen when she had found hers and I couldn't wait to be with someone who's love was unconditional in a way only a mate can.

I was always a clumsy person and very shy around guys. Having my wolf's connection now, she helped me with a bit of her confidence but I would refuse using much of her personality as I wanted to stay me as much as possible. But I'm sure when I meet my mate I would be confident with him.

I was the quiet country girl amongst my friend in high school which was in town. My friends all lived in town and were not the 'muck in and get hands dirty' kind of people. Some were werewolves but not all. Although my human friends knew of our kind and weren't a hidden species, we were not in danger of being hunted either. We had a sacred treaty to be able to live in harmony with one another.

I’ll have to read the rest later, but so far I like it. Only suggestion I’d make is find a grammar website to help fix up any grammatical errors & make sure you go over for spelling mistakes : )
