Chapter 1

"Hola my dear friend," shouted Max at the top of his lungs from the other side of the street. "Hey! Don't ignore me!"

He came running towards me and would've gone under a bus if I had not pulled him back in time. "Thanks," he muttered and I kept walking. He caught up quickly with me with his long legs. "In a bad mood today?"

Of course I was in a bad mood.

My best friend Aira usually was the one who picked me up from my house and we went to the school together in her car. Today, however, my brother had to start flirting with her and obviously she got pissed off and left without me.

And for that, I had to walk the whole damn way from my house to the school. Moreover, I was sure to be late.

But of course, I didn't want to tell Max all that. He would make an even bigger fuss than necessary.

"I'm fine," I answered. "Totally okay."

"Doesn't look like that," I heard Ray - Max's best friend's voice and inwardly groaned. They were the type of people our mom warns you to stay away from. I rolled my eyes at the ground and then looked up at the tall figure beside Max.

Sure was Ray.

"Who gives a damn about what you think Ray?" I asked him and he chuckled.

"You will never change, huh?" He draped an arm over my shoulders and smiled at me. "Tell me sweetie, what happened?"

I knew he was just about to give up so I finally confessed. And it was not like that big a deal anyways. Unless they made it.

Which they did. Not a surprise really.

"Soooooooooooooooooooo," Max whooped loudly once we entered the school grounds well past the bell. "Your brother is a pervert who is definitely a pedophile as well because he likes Lara?"

"Shut up," I glared at him.

"The school magazine has to know about this," Ray grinned. "I'll be off-" With that he was gone.

Big oof.

"By the way Aura," Max pulled me towards the notice board just outside our class. "You know something bout this BaND ComPEtiton? Why the heck would someone spell it like that?"

"Do I look like I will know?" I asked him and he shrugged. "Let's go, we are already so late." I tried to enter and he looked disappointed at my lack of response.

He ripped the notice off the board and started stuffing it in his pocket. "I don't think anybody needs it," he smiled at me.

I shook my head at him and opened the door of our classroom - 7B.

"Oh what's the hurry," he muttered and followed me.

Now let me introduce myself. My name is Aurora McCallick, but most people preferred Aura. I am 13, and read in seventh grade with a bunch of hooligans like Max and Ray. Max always keeps sticking with me and people assume that we are best friends but we are so not. Heck, we don't even like each other.

Okay, maybe he does.

Anyways, Max's best friend is Ray but he doesn't mind being called my best friend. My best friend is actually Aira, a small shy girl with long brown hair and brown eyes. Teachers always confuse us with one another because of our names. Students even go on to say we're sisters.

Not like I care.

"Completed your homework?" Aira asked me and I nodded. However Max panicked and looked at me with horrified eyes. "Which subject, Aura?"

"English," I replied, rather enjoying his trouble. He never did his assignments and turned them in time so he would always get a good scolding from the teacher. And it was so much fun to watch.

"Shit," his face fell. "How could I forget to do such an important work? What do I do? Oh, what do I do?"

"What do you want to do?" Ray joined his side and looked at him quizzically.

"Homework," Aira looked at him. "Don't tell me you forgot as well-" She was cut off mid sentence by Ray's scream.

"WHAT? WE HAD HOMEWORK?"

"Let's get started or else Ms. Hiel will eat us alive," Max pulled him back to their seats. "Come on."

Aira and I laughed about it for sometime before engaging in a conversation about which color she'd dye her long hair when she grows up.

"Class, settle down," Our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Yuki, a Japanese lady, entered. She always said the same sentence each day when she entered our class.

So boring.

She looked at us and waited for some response but everyone ignored her and eventually she got annoyed and left the class. Nobody even cared to turn their heads and look at her as she departed except for me and Aira.

"I think we are going to get in trouble," she whispered.

I was about to reply when my attention was drawn to the two figures doing belly dance inside the class. I rolled my eyes at the ceiling.

Oh, who else except our old favorite Max and Ray.

Everybody started laughing and Ray had just pulled up his shirt midway his torso when our principal, Mr. Robins entered the class.

"Oops," I muttered.
