elementary
hello i'm Haley lets say my last name is phoenix , where do i start I've always wanted to talk about this and get my story out there on getting bullied, and growing up with mild intellectual disabilities, so here we go.
let's start in kindergarten, most often it's supposed to be a fun time of learning and making friends, but for me that's not what happen, that's when bullying started, just because i was different and stood up for someone that now identifies as a girl i'm proud of them, but anyways people didn't like that i stood up for them, and started picking on me as well, and made me not like going to school.
fast forward to grade 1 things started getting even worse teachers started bullying me and calling me out in front of the class, which really messed me up even to this day, anyway i was always getting into trouble for interrupting the class because i didn't understand my school work, it really really sucked.
grade 2 was a living hell as well people used to call me mean names and teachers were still bullying and calling me out in front of the class, i was always sent to detention ' because i was a bad kid' oooo, but in reality i wasn't a bad kid just one who still didn't understand my school work and couldn't focus on one thing at a time, in reality the teacher never gave a crap about me and never tried to understand me so i guess i 'acted up' to try fitting in.
grade 3 was bad as well that's when they slowly started to realize oh maybe she has a problem, and started thinking about testing me wow finally they thought differently of me, the teacher i had and grade 3 was such a mean lady and always blamed me for stuff even stuff i didn't do, i tried understanding my school work as well as i could, shocker they tried putting me on Ritalin for adhd cause that's what they thought i had, funny thing is my fathers mom was a teacher and she was the one who said i needed to go on it which is super stupid, i got 'even worse' in school always day dreaming and pretty much stoned out of my mind and always feeling out of body, the teacher would hit my desk to get me to focus and that only lasted for like 5 seconds and i zoned out again, when i got in trouble everyone would laugh and laugh, it always hurt my feelings, and being on Ritalin didn't last long at all my mom got me off it thank god i love her for that.
grade 4 came around it was actually a very good year well the best year of elementary, my teacher was so awesome i loved her dearly cause she helped me out a lot, and i finally got tested for a disability, and did plenty of tests and found out i had mild intellectual disabilities, got assigned a helper that did all my school work with me i miss her dearly, my friend from kindergarten also had her as well and we got to leave class and go have fun while other kids had to do work, my teacher would see me getting bullied and she was always so quick to put an end to it, i was thankful that when she transferred to my school she was a special ed teacher before, and i started getting modified school work and that made me actually like learning.
