Chapter 1

All the shine of a thousand spotlights

All the stars we still from the night’s sky.

I promptly hit dismiss before the chorus of the amazing cover by my sister came to a finish. As I untangled my self from the warm comfy sheet of my full-size bed I looked at the time and saw that it was 4:30 AM. I quickly got up, went to my closet, and grabbed a plain white shirt, and a brown overall skirt dress thing. Walking over to my drawers I grabbed out my undergarments and went to my bathroom. Finally taking a long-awaited shower.

After my shower, I got dressed and put on very little make-up, and by little I mean mascara and lip gloss. I brushed my teeth and disposed of the clothes I wore to bed. I made my way downstairs and saw my sister wearing almost the exact same thing as me. Except her overalls were white and her shirt was brown.

“Hey M,” My twin sister Carlee said as I came downstairs.

“Hey C,” I replied grabbing a piece of bread and putting it in the toaster. “Did you get the homework from Mrs. Doyle?” Carlee nodded.

“Did you get the calculus homework from Mr. Glass?” She asked and I nodded.

“Yep,” I stated popping the ‘p’ “I’ll let you borrow it at lunch.” After that, I ate my breakfast.

“OH!” Carlee exclaimed ” Don’t forget,”

“That Lucy, Chip, Sally, and Belle are coming over tonight to hang out,” I repeated with her. ” I know I’m on food duty and you’re on protector room duty. Also, I was thinking that maybe we could go out and buy a new movie to watch. ” I said and she gave a quick okay.

I looked at the time and saw that it said 6:00 AM. “Ready to head off?” Carlee asked and I sighed and nodded.

We got our converse on and grabbed our bags. I grabbed my camera and my sister grabbed our phones. We threw our bags in the back seat of my 2014 white jeep wrangler. My sister plugged up her phone, playing music, we rode all the way to Dutch Bros. Ordering our drinks, of A large dragon slyer rebel and a picture-perfect freeze, we headed off to the hell called school.

I parked my car in my parking spot and grabbing my stuff from the back along with my sister grabbing her necessities. We walked inside the school sipping our drinks. We went to our lockers and got the books we needed for the first two classes of the day. Then we went to the quad to meet up with our friends. Waving at random people who we knew.

“How come we have to come here?” Carlee complained, ” I mean what is the point!” Taking a small sip from her drink “There is none. We just come to get our minds filled with pointless knowledge.” I chuckled at my sister.

“Hey, Mar and Car,” One of our close friends Chip called. Chip was our gay best friend, more mine but don’t tell Carlee, he had dark, almost black, brown hair, bright green eyes, and a tall stick like build. Carlee and I walked over to the people we called our friends, hugging them.

“Hey, ya’ll,” We said simultaneously.

“You guys ready for tonight?” I asked, handing Chip my drink. “Don’t drink it all”

“Well it gets me away from my jerk brother, so definitely,” Sally said approvingly. Sally Knight, sister of Atlas Knight. Sally had dark brown hair that she always curled, and had nice sun-kissed skin, much like me and my sister. Sally’s eyes were a beautiful shade of brown, much like her brother’s. She was way nicer than her brother, who was quite rude every time I had an interaction with him.

Our group of friends including Carlee and I talked about random things, including things to do tonight at the sleepover. Eventually, the bell rang and everyone dispersed into their class. My sister and I went to Greek Mythology.

Greek Mythology was quite an interesting class. The teacher, Mr. Margony, was super nice and never gave very little to no homework. He always made sure to get to know every one of his students. The class itself was very small and only had like fourteen people in it. Finally, it was definitely my favorite class.

My sister and I walked into the classroom on the second floor of the school. We had a casual conversation with Mr. Margony and sat in our seats we talked about the movies that we wanted to watch tonight. As the final bell rang and the rest of the class came in, Mr. Margony called roll. As he called the names down the list he called, “Atlas Knight.” he called. No response.

“And three, two, one,” I said and on cue Mr. Atlas Knight walked on the door. “Right on time,” I said sarcastically, which received me an eye roll.

“Why don’t you take a seat, Mr. Knight.” Our teacher responded to my comments. The rest of the day went by un normally fast; with nothing fun or exciting happening in 7 hours.

As my group and I, of course, left the boring hell of North Desoto High School, we went down to the store to see if we could find a movie to watch tonight. Afterward, going out for smoothies then back to my house. We went upstairs to the projector room and that is when my life went from okay to absolutely terrible.
