Emily Fields

Emily Fields woke up early on her first day of high school. This was it, she thought, her social life started now, all the cute jocks, the cheerleaders, the fame. Everything she had dreamt of growing up would be hers in just a few hours. She rushed out of bed to make sure she had ample time to look flawless on her first day. Emily was about to enter Garden Heights Public School in New York, upon Emily’s request, her parents had signed her up in a public school because Emily could not handle uniforms like catholic schools forced students to wear. She was the typical sassy 15-year-old: selfish, always wanted more, and she constantly put on a fake image for everyone to love her but never really found herself, that didn’t bother Emily because she was exactly where she wanted to be.

You could describe Emily as the teenager everyone wishes to be. Successful parents, which led to a lot of money, her parents spoiled her on daily and her house was beautiful; it was located in a private neighbourhood in Manhattan and had a pool, an indoor hot tub and a home theatre. Emily LOVED to brag about that stuff and didn’t care if she made others look bad or less wealthy than herself because for Emily, as long as she was happy and all of that was what SHE had, it was fine by her. For her first day, Emily went for something showy as she picked out a tight crop top and ripped jeans. She wanted to look her best.

As she went downstairs, she briefly said good morning to her parents and quickly went to the kitchen to go eat breakfast with her phone to check out Instagram and SnapChat. Emily was an only child and both her parents were highly successful as her mother was a lawyer and her father a neurosurgeon. They always gave Emily the freedom she wanted and Emily never complained. They were barely home because of their jobs, but that didn’t bother Emily because she had her phone and her friends.

Emily’s best friend Brooklyn Carter was like Emily’s sister that she never had. The thing with Brooklyn and Emily is that Brooklyn does not have a personality for herself. Ever since they were little, Emily always dragged Brooklyn around everywhere and it didn’t seem to bother Brooklyn that much. Brooklyn didn’t have any friends of her own, they were always Emily’s friends. But it didn’t seem to bother either of them and that’s just how things were between those 2 best friends. They did EVERYTHING together. During the many sleepovers they’ve had, they would spend sleepless nights spilling secrets, they’d go to the mall every weekend and spend all the money on their parent’s credit cards and then cry together when they would get in trouble for it.

Brooklyn was always the shy one and always let Emily do the talking for her, Brooklyn’s personality was built off of Emily’s. This morning, Brooklyn was coming over and Emily’s parents would drive both of them to their first day of high school. They both were lucky enough to take the day off to be there for their daughter’s special day. Emily would have rather taken the city bus because she thought it was childish to still have your parents bring you to school at 15 years old, but her parents insisted and Emily ended up accepting.

The school started at 9:00. At 8:15, Brooklyn arrived at Emily’s house and she and Emily started discussing their “first day of high school survival plan” which mostly composed of Emily imposing ideas and Brooklyn just agreeing because she knew that if she didn’t, Emily would get pissed. Garden Heights was about a 20 minutes’ drive from Emily’s house, so at about 8:45 Emily’s parents walked into the kitchen where Brooklyn and Emily were sitting and told the girls it was time to go. Emily was so excited, she would be popular soon! She rushed to the car, Brooklyn and her parents following behind her. They were in the car for 15 minutes when Emily’s dad turned left and Emily looked out. There it was, about 100m down; Garden Heights Public School.
