Chapter 1

I’ve been asked for assistance with verifying the time lines for a story, and thought that this might help other fan fic writers in the Tin Man fandom.

Now, first off, the actress they picked for the young DG totally messes up this time line as it is only from the older DG that this can be worked out since the young DG looks older.

DG:

Age 20 upon returning to the O.Z.

Was on the Other Side for 15 years.

20 - 15 = 5 (The young actress they had playing DG looked and talked older than 5, especially in the apple memory with the bear.)

Az:

Young Az looks to be about age 11.

Add 15 for the time DG is gone and you get her age at the time they defeat the witch.

11 + 15 = 26

Now, subtract 8 and you get the age in which she took power and removed Ambrose’s brain. (I get 8 from how long Cain was in the suit - and you find out that Ambrose would have had his brain removed at the same time...)

26 - 8 = 18 (approximate age she appeared in Ambrose’s memory in the cabin)

Now comes the hard part... determining Ambrose’s age...

If one takes in the optimism and unwavering faith shown in the Queen’s abilities in the memory in the cabin, you can probably guess that he’s pretty young and/or lived a sheltered life... We know, if not by out right saying so, he was the youngest adviser to the Queen - We know this not only from what he tells DG and the way he tells her before they find Cain, but also by what he tells Cain before they rescue DG. The ladies at the dance made him feel like he just blended into the wall paper... most probably would thinking he was just going to bore them, or that he was stuck up due to his position at such a young age. This gives me cause to think that he is under age 20 at the time that DG and Az are age 5 and 11 respectively. More likely that he is 18 years of age.

If we work with this number, we get:

18 +15 = 33 (Meaning he would be 33 at the time of the witch’s defeat)

33 - 8 = 25 (This gives us that he would have been 25 in his memory in the cabin, and, if correct, could mean that he did live a sheltered life if he was constantly in his lab working rather than socializing with people and experiencing the world around him, could lead to his naivety.)

While watching the show, you can see that he and Cain appear close in age, I would gather that Cain may be a year or two older - mainly because I doubt he would marry at or around 18... though he would have been around age 25 as well when he was put in the suit as Neal McDonough said in the interview on the Collector’s Edition DVD that he was in the suit 8 years.

So, there you go... there’s a time line...

Hope it helps.

Also made up a map today, I used one I found from Frank L. Baum as well as the one Sci Fi did, and I think Sci Fi’s rather sucks and is way off... but well, here it is... Um, yeah... whoever did this map (the Sci Fi overlay one) must have been smoking something to make the Northern Island dead East... LOL

Okay, not as clean as the first one, but this is how I see DG’s journey through the OZ...

Green is DG’s journey, Blue is the others when they are separated.

Start at the storm,

go to the Eastern Guild,

then to Cain’s Cabin and on through Milltown and Central City.

From there, North to Ice Mountain and then to Azkadellia’s Tower - My friend and I believe it to be in the Deadly Desert as that would appeal to the witch, but it could be as close as the Tin Woodsman’s Castle.

After leaving Azkadellia’s Tower, head back through the Fields of the Papay - not sure why they wouldn’t have gone in a straight line unless to avoid Azkadellia’s Long Coats, there by taking the long way...

From the Papay Fields head South to Finaqua and then on to The Realm of the Unwanted. DG’s green line then goes North, back up to the lake near Central City to Ahamo’s Balloon - Could be to the Truth Pond but I doubt, for safety reasons, Ahamo would be that close to Azkadellia whether he wanted to or not.

Then take Ahamo’s Balloon and head South once more to the mountains to locate the Emerald of the Eclipse before heading back to Azkadellia’s tower.

On the blue path after leaving the Realm of the Unwanted, head North to the Resistance Camp, and then Southeast to the Emerald of the Eclipse to rescue DG before heading off to defeat the witch at Azkadellia’s Tower...

Well, that is what I figure DG’s journey over the OZ from Sci Fi’s Tin Man looks like. Hope it helps, and enjoy...
