Chapter 1
She walked with her son in her arms naked. She gave birth to her son in the alley. She had only one pair of clothes which were stolen from her when she was crying in pain birthing her son. The old lady took her clothes knowing that there will be no resistance.
The street was full of blood. Houses, cars, buses were burning everywhere. She was glad to be alive. Nobody noticed the naked woman & son covered in blood.
She was thirsty. She started looking into burning homes for water & shred of clothes. She stepped into a pool of blood with three bodies lying around it. She was tempted to pull clothes from the body of a sixteen year old girl but she quickly ran when she heard the convoy. The convoy kept on announcing ‘Kill the cowards! Burn the disgrace!’ with men holding swords covered in blood.
She hid behind the burning car, praying to her God but stopped abruptly realising that her religion was the reason she was being hunted. She cursed her God. She cursed the day she was born in this religion. This was the curse of being a believer.
She looked at her son. He was awfully quiet. She stirred him, afraid that she might have lost him because she did not know how to nurse a new-born. The baby opened his eyes & immediately started wailing. Instinctively, she pushed her nipple in the baby’s mouth to soothe him. She felt the baby’s lips pursing calming him. She felt the world spin around her for a brief moment with happiness of being able to care for her baby before she felt the sharp pain of metal on back of her head. She instantaneously put her hand on her head & the baby slid from her arms. She saw him start falling from her arms. She stretched her arms as fast she could to reach to her happiness before any harm came upon. The baby fell on the concrete floor, broke his skull & died.
She killed her own son.
