Chapter 1
Third P.O.V
As Dusk has settled in the streets of New Haven a.k.a “little Italiano of the south”.At dusk thats when the town really comes to life. “All the Creatures of the night come out to play”as my momma would say. The ladies of the night are on the prowl for new pray. They stand scandalous clad by the surrounding establishments trying to entice the passing patrons.the patrons entered my family’s Italian restaraunt . My old friend Candy would stand by the door waiting patiently . She loved to reminence about the past with mila before her shifts.
Candy’s out fit of the day was a tight red dress that barely cover her lady bits and exposed her ass if she bent down enough. Her over teased bleach blonde hair framed her painted on face. Mila had been best freinds when they graduated from highschool. Candy ,joe,and her were inseperable in those days.
now,joe hughes married his highschool sweetheart ..Gina ,candy had made life altering choices. Here mila is still working at the family restaraunt. That had been in her family for generations.mila’s older brother Ben is to inherit the busniess once papa tony steps down. That isn’t anytime soon.
Mila's P.O.V
Mila nodded hi candy you know papa tony is going to furious . She laughed as she fluffed her hair. “Doll face life ain’t as it seems you will learn that”As if on cure my father, Tony Malone ,he was known as papa tony” you are not welcome here. It’s bad or my busniess.” Candy had a way of getting under his skin and she reveled in it.
Candy rolled her eyes” you didn’t say that last night”papa Tony’s face went beet red.
I laughed keep you head up doll face she saluted me as a soldier would .
Candy blew air kisses at me” keep your hands clean ,doll face.”as she saultered off in the opposite direction.
My father waited til candy turned the corner to finally give me the lecture” mila,that one is no good she will only get you into trouble leave her alone”.
Oh,but she’s my friend and she just made bad choices doesn’t mean she’s a bad person .I pleaded
He took a deep breath “ mila, ya have a heart of gold. One day you will settle down and give me grand babies.” I laughed at the thought. I never loved anyone but Liam he’s my brother bens best friend he is off limits. He sees her as braces wearing , training bra wearing ben’s baby sister. Not the woman she had becomes hurt her when she realized it.
I thought about the last time I laid eyes upon Liam Thomas .It had when graduated from highschool.Liam ruffled my hair and as he went after my older cousin,naudia .his disregard had enfuriated me to no ends.thats when I refused to love him anymore. I smiled thinking about he look on his handsome face when naudia broke his heart . I know it’s malicious to be happy about his heartbreak.Liam Thomas a selfish conceded jerk who never thought about anyone but himself. My shift flew by even the most unruly patron couldn’t bring my good mood down .
The old clock chimes..ten on the dot
is in my opinion is the best time of the day. Closing time . Ben had left early leaving me to clean up after my shift. Joe came in as he always does he threw the parmasian encrusted chicken in the trash can near the door. So what’s new joe?
After working on the force for years he seen a lot he isn’t the fun loving guy he once was. His now eyes held a coldness. “ were stumped we don’t know how the drugs are getting smuggled in . The was another dead body that was dumped a few blocks. Away another prostite had been killed”.I worried for candy's safety. But I didn’t voice my concern to anyone.
Joe ruffled his short brown hair as he paced the floor . “ the funny thing is “ he admitted “ the crime boss known as king pin he is always one step ahead of us. He knows our every move”.
I pulled out the trash bag as they have a mole in the station or they have someone on the inside.
“Your amazing mila, I knew that analytical mind of yours would help. You know there is a new spots to fill at the academy . You should sign up you would be a great cop.”
No thanks joe that’s your thing. Plus, Gina would start supecting “us”again. Gina had bad relationships in the past so she always on a rampage about me and joe’s platonic relationship. He is closer to me than my own brother. His phone went off “ yes baby I’m on my way.” He waved as he walked towards the front of the restaraunt. Same old joe never changes.
I hated the alley way behind the restaraunt . It’s always pitch black and the alley cats always shot out from the shadows as she opened up the dumpster. The heavy lid screached as I pried it open which scared the cats that hissed and ran. This night there was no cats and no squeak how odd!
Breathe in and out
There was screaming in the distant the street light flicked casting shadows over two people. One male and another female. Curiosity over took me. I encroached closer to decipher what is being said. As the street light flicker on once more I gasped.
Third person p.o.v
It’s candy and Ben in a heated arrgrument!
Ben, you promised to take me out of this life. Candy shouted.
Yeah , that was before I found out how much you make per night. Your sweet ass is making me a fortune. I’m gonna keep you til your all used up. He smirked.
“Ben”she pleaded “ what about the baby you said your gonna do right by us and marry me”
He laughed maliciously “ I would never marry a prositute . You said it your self it could be anyone’s mistake!”
She screamed and laughed herself at him clawing his face. Streams of blood flowed down his face. “ crazy bitch”
She screamed “ just because your daddy is “The King Pin” suppling all the heroine that flows into town doesn’t mean you own me.”
Ben touched her inapproiatley . I do own you and this town so you shut your filthy mouth about my work or I’m gonna close it for you.
Candy hit him in the gonads “ that’s for honey you mudering bastard. I know it’s you killed her. I’m going to the police. I hope they fry ur sorry mother ..,,. She didn’t get to finish that statement.
A shot rang out as candy’s body crumpled to the cold pavement. Mila watched as her friend struggled to breathe her own beloved brother stood above her. With a sinister smile upon his face as he aimed his gun a Candy” goodbye sweetheart! tell the devil when I come I’m taking over”.
He shot candy instantly stilled. . Mira backed away slowly a cat ran hitting a trash can . Ben shouted “who’s there?”
I ran at this point I heard his foot step in the distance. My heart beat increased as I ran faster into the street I didn’t stop to see if was still following Mira. I stopped in the alley by joes apartment I held my racing breathe as Ben ran past me I hid farther into the shadows. My Family are monsters.
