Hide & Seek

“I’m bored” I said, while swirling my straw in my drink.

“Well then let’s play a game?” Jack replied.

“Like what?” Alec said.

“What about hide-and-seek?” I asked. I had always loved that game. It reminded me of my childhood. Me and Katie would always play it.

“I don’t really li-”

“It’s my turn to pick what we play Alec, remember?”

“Fine,” Alec grumbled.

Jack was my boyfriend. He has green eyes, brown hair that was always dyed blue. We met when we were in kindergarten. He was a kid who needed help with school. He said that I have beautiful black hair, and that my eyes were amazing, that they kept changing from blue to purple. He sounded embarrassed to say it and was blushing. I just laughed. We started talking for a bit and we started hanging out. We kept talking until like high school, and eventually started dating. We decided that Alec, my older brother, would be it. Alec has blond hair and green eyes. He is overly sweet and nerdy, though when it came to getting a boyfriend, he was a bit overprotective. He was also scared of him. Anywaaaaay, I decided that I would hide in the closet, Jack said he would hide in the bathtub (Horrible hiding spot, really), Johnny said he did not want to tell anyone, and Katie said she would hide with me. I thought that it was strange that Johnny did not tell anyone, but I kept my mouth shut. Katie and I were best friends since kindergarten, she has long black hair and blue eyes. She is a bit of an introvert. I am the only one that wanted to be friends with her. I felt horrible when those kids would bully her. Johnny is Jack’s twin brother. (Do not tell anyone, but he has a crush on a girl in his class, Grace, Jack told me) He looks exactly like Johnny, they are identical. Except for the fact that Johnny has his hair dyed green and he has freckles. Anyway, me and Katie got found first (How we got found before Jack? Ido not know), Jack got found second, and Johnny. We couldn't find him. We searched everywhere. We told his parents and they tried to help us, but we had no luck. I was worried. He was like a brother to me, plus, whenever we had computer problems, he would help a lot. He also kept us happy, he cracked jokes all the time, and it helped us a lot.

“WHERE IS HE?!” Jack yelled. I know he has a close relationship with his brother, when their baby sister died, Jack became very overprotective of Johnny, and I know that he did not want to lose another sibling.

“Jack, please, it’s okay” I whispered. That calmed him down a little bit more.

Alec was scared. I could tell by his face, he knows when Jack gets mad, he is not that friendly.

Alec whispered, “Be careful, I don’t want him to-”

“What?! Hurt me!? Kill me?! You are being ridiculous,” I whispered back, “Let me take care of him, he’s not going to do anything.”

I turned my attention to Jack.

“We’ll find him,” I said soothingly, and kissed Jack softly on the cheek, “We just need to look everywhere. Don’t worry.”

” O-ok”

I guided him into his room and sat him down on his bed. I talked to him for a while, comforting him. He had tears streaming down his face. I had never seen him like this. I stayed the night to see if it would get better, it did not. He would only go to sleep for 5 minutes at a time, and when he tried, he was always crying. The next morning, I went home and wished him and his family luck. I went to the store after that and printed out a picture of Johnny with Jack. They were in the pool, playing with diving toys. I bought a frame for it and wrapped it in blue wrapping paper, Jack’s favorite color. The next day, I brought it to him. He thanked me, but he was acting strange. He just went back to his room, and I heard something being thrown against the wall. I was heartbroken, he just broke the picture. His parents pulled me aside and told me that he has been staying in his room, punching walls, throwing things, and screaming. I left after that. I wanted to help him; I just did not know-how. I had never seen him this mad, not since, well, not since his sister died. I tried comforting him then, but it did not work. I went home and stared at my wall. What should I do? I put on a Marvel movie because it was Johnny’s favorite. I laid there for a while until I fell asleep. I had a dream, it showed Johnny with someone. Was that Grace? They were hiding from something. I tried calling out for Johnny, but all that left my mouth was silence. Grace screamed. A thing with a horrid face had stabbed a dagger into her back. Johnny, angry, grabbed the thing and sliced its arm. It fell to the floor. He rushed to Grace’s side and he yelled.

“WHY”

“Shh, it’s okay, I’m fine”

“Yeah right, you just got stabbed by a freaking Morilec, we need a hospital.”

“Hold on, I have-” she winced in pain as she grabbed a bottle of liquid out of her bag that looked like water, “This is Zdravilec, if I just drink some it will heal me.”

He poured some in her mouth, and the wound faded instantly. Johnny helped her up.

“Where’d you find that?”

It was in one of the Morilec’s bases. I accidentally spilled some on my cut while taking it and it healed instantly.”

“Oh, we have to get out of here, more will be coming.”

Then the dream faded into nothing. I woke up and went straight to Jack’s house to tell them, they would not believe me, but it was worth a try. When I ran in, his parents were crying.

“What’s wrong?”

“Jack, h-he, we heard a gunshot and he was de-dead.” I started crying.

“No, this can’t happen, he-”

Then, I completely broke down. His parents were comforting me but that did not help in the slightest. I got up and ran home. I stayed crying in my room until I cried myself to sleep. I was being selfish, but I did not care. His parents had lost all their children. I just wanted Jack back.
