Summary

This is a romance story of two characters Jay and Bryce. Yes, they are in fact a gay couple if you don't like it don't read it. This is a side story I'm working on to get to know my characters Bryce and Jay better. TW of abuse, bullying, self harm and possibly others. I'll be sure to add a warning before it.

Like the bird

Bryce-

I reach into my wallet, fishing out some money. Hopefully it's enough. I hand it to the person working the cash register. She hands me back my change also I walk away. She could have been nicer, but she's probably having a bad day. I sit down while I wait for my name to be called. I grab my phone and see I have a missed call from Jay. I hear my name so quickly put my phone away and grab the drink tray. The door is thankfully not a pull door, so I push it open with my shoulder, not wanting to tip the drinks. As soon as I get to my car I pull out a marker and take one of the cups.

I think you're pretty stellar

I write. I bite the lid of the marker before adding something.

Like the bird

I write underneath. Just in case he doesn't understand. He will though. He hates my bird jokes. I set it back down in the drink tray and add a large R on top of one, then write Jay on the other.

I drive back to school. I always meet Jay in his woodwork class during connections. His teacher says I'm nice. Probably just because I can remember his coffee order better than he can. I speed walk to the woodwork class, feeling the drinks slosh aroung in their cups. If I drop them I'll cry.

I push the door open with my back and Mr. R. comes out of his office. He always knows taht when the door opens it's just me with the coffee. He looks over the tray before grabbing his. He grunts, probably meaning it as a thanks, before walking back into his office. I grab the safety glasses from the table and put them on.

"Wow, poetic today, aren't we!" I yell to him. I feel Jay wrap his arms around my waist. "Get off, your drink is getting cold." He kisses my cheek then grabs his drink from the tray. My drink tips the tray over, but Jay quickly catches it.

"Careful, it's hot." He hands me my drink then shakes his hand off. We sit down at one of the tables.

"What are you working on today?" He nods over to a bowl on the lathe. "Looks nice."

"You look nice," he says, glaring at me. I chuckle softly.

"Thanks." I lean over the table and kiss him. He places a hand on my cheek as he leans forward as well. I calmly take a sip of my drink while he looks away, blushing. He pushes his drink away slightly.

"I've gotta finish this project," he mumbles. He goes over to the lathe and grabs a mask. He turns it back on then begins working on his bowl again. I go to his side and watch what he does, making sure to not get in the way. I smirk at him.

"I love you. A lot. Way more than I can put into words. I think you're so amazing. You are just so pretty. Your hair, your eyes, your smile, your-" He quickly lifts his mask and kisses me, cutting me off. I smile against the kiss.

"I love you too." He smiles then puts the mask back on. I love annoying him. It's hard to hear through the mask anyways plus the added noise of the lathe and all the dust collectors, so I like to see how much of what I say he can hear. I go sit back down by my drink, satisfied with the results of my experiment. I take my drink in my hand as I stare at him lovingly. I do really mean it. I love him more than I can even admit.

"Stop making out when he's trying to work," Mr. R. says roughly behind me. I smile back at him.

"But we're in love." I stretch out the word love childishly. He rolls his eyes.

"Yes, but what will love do when one of you gets your fingers cut off." I roll my eyes right back.

"Love works miracles, Mr. R." He laughs then goes to see what Jay's doing. After a couple minutes Jay comes back over. He sees the writing on the cup then glares at me.

"I hate you."

"You love me." I squish his cheeks.

"Maybe." I trace mg hand over the chain of my necklace. "I'm kidnapping you after school. We're going to my house. Okay?" He seems surprised but nods. He takes out his phone, texting his mom I assume.

"It's almost time to go, I have to clean up." He chugs the rest of his drink then tosses it into a garbage as he walks over to the lathe. It takes him a while to clean up but after he's done he shuts down the dust collectors and comes back over to me. He takes his glasses of then takes mine. He kisses my nose then puts them away. I take his hand and we say goodbye to Mr. R. before going to my car.

I unlock the door and go inside, taking his hand again and leading him up to my room. He practically has every detail memorized in my house, but I still want to hold his hand. We sit down on my bed and he grabs Cinnamon, holding him close. I grab the other plush Seal and press their noses together.

"They're kissing," I joke. He holds Cinnamon above his head.

"No! Our son is going to wait until marriage. Besides, Peach is an old lady." I laugh as I try to grab the seal above him. He flops back onto the bed, causing me to fall on him. We're both laughing now. I grab Cinnamon quickly and snuggle into his chest, holding both the seals close. After a second I look up at him.

"Hey, my parents aren't home." I wiggle my eyebrows at him. He pushes me away and covers his face.

"You suck." We both sit up. He wraps his arms around my waist. I sigh, adjusting myself on his lap. "Unless you want to." I shrug and kiss him.

"Babe, I'm kidding." He kisses my neck lovingly.

"I know. Love you, Daisy."

"Love you too, Honeybee." He kisses me again.
