Beyond The Wall prelude

1

Pointless, worthless, pathetic.

These words flying through Nat's mind as they walked down to Chloe's house with a note in their hand.

The note only said two words:

I'm Sorry.

They slid the letter through the yellow door and continued walking. They were going to do it. Nothing could stop them. Nat was going to jump of The Wall, which conveniently had a ladder. The Wall was the tallest thing in Foolshope and would be the perfect place for Nat to end it.

They grew closer to the wall, they could feel the tears in their eyes, tears which would not fall.

Nat stood in front of the wall now, staring up at the site of they doom. They climbed the ladder, higher and higher and higher.

Chloe picked up the letter that had been posted through her door. It was two simple letters, which wasn't the thing that alerted her, it was the handwriting, it was Nat's handwriting.

Chloe swiftly opened her door and ran to the nearest Police department, which luckily wasn't that far away, she told them about what Nat was going to do and where they would be, the police left as quickly as they could.

Chloe returned home and hoped Nat would be okay.

Nat stood atop The Wall, slowly walking closer and closer to The Wall's edge. They closed their eyes, took a deep breath and-

"Excuse me!" A voice said, projected over a megaphone. "Are you Nat?"

Nat opened their eyes. They nodded.

"Okay, can you please get down from there?" The voice asked.

Nat shook their head, signifying a no.

"Please, you have people that care about you, like that girl who came and told us where you were."

'Chloe,' Nat thought. 'She said she'd be trapped if I died.'

"Oh god, what have I done?" Nat said, not so loudly that everyone could hear.

They climbed down. As, soon as Nat touched the floor, the police swarmed them, but in a comforting way.

"It's okay, we've going to take you home." One of the police said. "Why were you going to do it."

Nat didn't answer.
