Summary

It was supposed to be simple. Move to the new town. Keep our heads down. Smile when needed and pose for pictures. Wait until we were 18 and we could leave our life behind. Easy enough, right? My name is Ryan McCoy. You may have heard of me. When I was arrested for the murder of my parents, it was all over the news. The story of the golden boy going beserk and killing his mother and father became America's new obsession. But none of them got the story right. Now, I'm being forced to set the record straight. I'm starting from the very beginning. Welcome to MY story.

Prologue

The soft clack of the woman’s heel was the only sound that could be heard throughout the silent prison corridor. This wing was only for the people who were perceived, either falsely or justly, as truly deranged and was harbored in soundproof, padded boxes. And yet, the confident and arrogant woman walked down the hall as she owned it. She reached the very last cell and nodded to the prison guard behind her.

“Open cell block 36” the guard yelled to the other guard at the end of the corridor.

The woman strolled into the room with an air of arrogance. She was fully aware of the fact that the last interviewer who came in to talk to him had made no progress and had deemed him extremely uncooperative. But this woman believed she could crack one of New Jersey’s most unstable prisoners.

“Good Morning, Ryan, it’s a beautiful day outside isn’t it?” the woman with blindingly white teeth greeted her newest patient.

He sat there silently as she tried to settle into the metal chair across from him. His icy eyes sent a cold chill through her bones.

“So, are to not going to talk to me again today is that what this is?”

Ryan remained silent, his cold ice blue showed no emotion.

The woman folded her hands on top of the table and returned his stare.

“What do you want, Maria?” He rasped out, his voice hoarse from disuse.

“You’re in an awful mood today, aren’t you?” Maria sat down in a chair across from him.

Ryan shrugged, the chains on his handcuffs jingling slightly, “I think I’m in an appropriate mood for someone who has spent, what is it now? Two years locked up?”

“Now Ryan, we both know how you got here, are you saying you don’t deserve what you were sentenced?” the doctor asked without batting an eye.

“Doesn’t matter if I did or didn’t doc now does it?” the boy said casually. He looked around, “I’m already in the insane asylum, aren’t I? And last time I checked no one leaves unless in a body bag right chief?” He looked over to one the guards by the doors who involuntarily froze at the intensity in his eyes.

“And can you please tell me why you did it?” Maria asked, seeming to ignore his earlier statements.

Ryan leaned back in his chair, chuckling without humor, “Now doc, why the hell would I do that?”

She fidgeted in her chair then looked back at him, “Well, the guards have been instructed to.......persuade you if you don’t cooperate,” she stated confidently, although some of her confidence slipped away as he leaned forward to study her with cold eyes. He was handcuffed behind his back and that was connected to a metal chain on the ground. There’s no way he can get out Maria so calm down.

Maria waited for Ryan’s response. One of the guards hit his baton against his leg in the background and Ryan glanced at him and smirked but Maria paid him no mind.

“You really want to know what makes me tick huh?” he laughed darkly.

“Well sweetheart, that’s a long story,” Ryan said with a knowing smirk on his face.

“You and I have all day, Ryan,” she smirked inwardly, thinking he finally gave in.

“Well, grab some popcorn. We’re gonna be here a while.”
