Chapter 1
Kai fell from the sky wings flared out, clouds zooming passed her before CRASH she hit the ground “ugh” Kai said out loud to herself, she looked to her left lying on the floor she saw green grass just barley in her sight some green bushes surrounded her. As she got up she heard her bones which cracked and popped back into place after being dislocated “whoa” Kai said in surprise after looking up and her vision be coming back into full focus, she saw a large tree bigger than she’s ever seen.
*2 days later* she had built her home in the giant tree, it had everything she needed like food, water, entertainment, and even her bed, everything was made of oak wood she had windows and everything she needed in a normal ground home. Kai yawned and stretched after waking up bones popping into place, Kai spread her wings out some loose feathers fell onto her wooden floor, she reached for her hoodie hanging on the wall next to her bed and put it on.
She stepped off of her bed the wood creaked and squeaked with the applied pressure, Kai looked over at her desk next to her sink “oh my camera” Kai said in surprise she had forgotten about her love for photography, she picked her camera and opened her door gliding down to the lowest branch of the tree then gliding down to the ground landing on the soft green grass her hooves making small dents in the dirt beneath she walked around the tree a few times before saying “I want to take bigger pictures” she spread her wings out and flew to the sky just above the white fluffy clouds she shot a purple-colored beam at her house protecting it from others.
Kai flew with the speed of light through clouds, she dove to get more speed the adrenaline rush she got from flying was like nothing else she had felt she pulled herself back up to the sky bursting through a cloud a few minutes later she dove aiming for a cliff but she missed and flipped over it a large crack can be heard as she was falling she didn’t make a sound her eyes closed, just before she hit the ground she felt like she stopped Kai slowly opened her eyes she was being carried by a young girl about 14 years old just a year younger than her she had piercing blue eyes, short blonde hair and fair white skin. Kai tried to stand but fell right back onto the floor screaming in pain due to a fracture in her right leg.
“are you okay?” the girl asked “yeah…I’m fine” Kai stuttered as she shot her leg with a red beam out of her eyes and just like that her leg was straight again “whoa that’s cool” the girl said in amazement “oh that its nothing” Kai replied forgetting she just got saved from death “oh yeah by the way thanks for that” Kai said to the girl meeting her beautiful eyes for the first time, instantly Kai felt like she was floating again her stomach suddenly felt like it was filled with butterflies.
“what are you doing down here all by yourself?” Kai asked “oh well I was trying to find something and I fell and landed on a pool of water and I’ve been trying to find my way back for about 2 days” Kai was in shock “want to come back to my place I’ll give you a ride” Kai suggested “oh sure” the girl replied confused Kai
turned around crouching in a frog-like position her wings spread out far “hop-on,” Kai said happily,
The girl sat on Kai’s back and Kai took off 2 feet off the ground not being used to the extra weight on her, suddenly Kai flew into the clouds once again “Hey I never got your name” Kai asked “oh my names Raven” Raven replied before looking into the sky in amazement, smiling before yawning and falling asleep on Kai’s back. Kai’s stomach filled again with butterflies and she felt she was floating softly in the sky, Kai took some cloud and shaped it into a blanket and threw it over Raven to keep her warm on the travel back home.
Once Kai made a landing on the roof of her home she carefully walked down the stairs with Raven still sound asleep with her cloud covers, Kai gently placed Raven on her bed and cover her with her favorite fluffy blanket and pillow, Kai slept next to the bed on the floor so Raven could sleep comfortably, she heard Raven laughing in her sleep “I never knew her smile was that pretty and her laugh could be so adorable” Kai’s face turned bright red and she got hot so she only slept under her wing just before she fell asleep she heard “I heard that” Kai was confused for about 5 seconds and then clicked “did I say that out loud” Kai asked quietly “yep” Raven responded while laughing, Kai looked and sounded flushed stuttering as she spoke. “want some breakfast?” Kai asked politely as Raven was rubbing her eyes trying to get her vision into full focus “y…yeah sure, thanks” Raven responded getting off of the bed and stretching, “what would you like I have pancakes, cereal, and waffles?” Kai asked “um ill have some pancakes please” Raven replied her stomach growling quietly “no problem” Kai whispered beneath her breath.
When breakfast was finished Kai asked Raven “hey, want to go for a fly?” Raven looked confused “Nah I’m good I don’t want to drag you down it was hard enough getting home” Raven responded, “no I have another plan for you to fly follow me!” Kai said exited. Raven walked outside of Kai’s tree home and looked at what Kai was doing, Kai had a very large cloud shaping it into a chariot, she also had a leash and she took another lump of cloud and shaped it into a horse tying it to the carriage and with one bright blue beam of light, the horse came to life getting ready to gallop off into the sky.
Raven was now in the chariot “so you are not human…right?” Raven asked in confusion “no I’m not human” Kai responded looking outside of the chariot window “ so what are you?” Raven asked “I’m a demon…but don’t worry I’m not the stereotypical demon that’s evil and kills everyone” Raven felt a little more relaxed now around Kai. About 2 hours went by and they were returning to Kai’s house “so when would you like to go home?” Kai asked sounding sad “oh…maybe tomorrow” Raven responded, Kai looked as if she had tears in her eyes “are you crying?’ Raven asked smiling slightly “oh…yeah I’m fine” Kai replied wiping her eyes quickly.
Once they got to Kai’s tree home Kai ran upstairs swiftly Raven was left confused following slowly “Kai are you okay?” Raven yelled up but no answer, Raven heard a noise kind of like heavy breathing and voice cracks “are you crying Kai?” she asked softly but again no answer so she opened the door and climbed the ladder “I…I’m fine trust me” Kai reassured but her mascara was streaming down her face. “no you’re not” Raven whispered just loud enough for Kai to hear it “no trust me I’m fine” Kai stuttered, Raven ran up to Kai and wrapped her arms around her saying “no you’re not” Kai finally gave in and started to let the tears run down to the oak wood floor…Suddenly they heard a crash at the door “shhh” Kai whispered “I know who it is” Kai informed Raven “ stay here don’t move” Raven nodded as Kai slowly went downstairs…
Raven heard screaming and gunshots “we’ll get you Demon you won't live long!” Raven was feeling worried as she heard the door slam shut. She heard nothing for 30 seconds before hearing gunshots again, feeling scared again she looked out the window seeing cars among people with guns and grenades “what on earth” Raven asked herself, Raven was no longer scared she instead felt anger but it was different it was so strong she tried to contain it clenching her eyes shut tight.
Kai was fighting off people in plain white coats “NO DON’T GO UP THERE!” Kai yelled to a person who was climbing up the ladder, Kai grabbed them throwing them to the ground shooting them with a black beam of light…Kai froze hearing a crash thought the upstairs window Kai rushed up the ladder see Raven was taken…she saw someone holding her in their arms tightly walking towards a van, Kai launched herself out the window flying towards Raven snatching her into her wings and flying far away into the sky past the clouds “close your eyes” Kai instructed Raven and she followed the order Kai shot a black stream of magic at her house and the cars around it making everything disappear into thin air.
Kai landed on a cliff letting Raven off tears in her eyes “listen just tell me where you live and I’ll take you there” Kai gasped out Raven’s eyes filled with tears “No” Raven replied dryly Kai looked at her “why?” Kai asked quietly “I want to stay here with you” Raven responded letting one tear drip to the cold concrete floor “but it's not safe” Kai warned her “I know that but I have you to protect me,” Raven said softly “it's your instinct,” Raven told Kai, Kai looked confused “what do you mean?” Kai asked curios “watch” Raven said dryly, Raven took one deep breath and held it leaning to the cliff and letting her self fall “RAVEN!” Kai yelled hearing the echo in her mind, Kai spread her wings so fast she heard a crack, Kai screamed in pain “I broke it” Kai said out loud but still flew down the cliff at top speed crying and screaming in pain Raven was about 2 feet off the ground before being caught in Kai’s arms, Raven saw Kai’s wing “oh no are you okay” Raven asked worried “yeah I’m fine” Kai reassured her “so where do you want to live?” Kai asked breathing heavily “honestly…I’m fine as long as I’m with you” Raven confessed smiling slightly Kai looked at Raven tears filling her eyes “Oh don’t cry,” Raven said while carefully wrapping her arms around Kai avoiding her injured wing “I have an idea” Kai exclaimed as she stood up and shot her wing with a red beam of light.
Kai was flying through the sky once again Raven was in the carriage behind her about 1 hour later Kai and Raven arrived at a beautiful palace made out of stone, the carriage landed on the stone floor and floated back up into the sky waiting for their next ride. “Omg,” Raven said in surprise of the beauty of the palace “this is my old home,” Kai said exited “its…beautiful” Raven stuttered staring up at the building “this is where we can live until you want to go back home” Kai explained but those words snapped Raven out of her daydream “wait…I said I don’t want to go home” Raven said in confusion “I know but I can’t keep you safe forever,” Kai said her voice cracking “I don’t care how long it takes for us to be 100% safe I want to stay here with you”.
2 days later Kai was making breakfast downstairs “Raven time to wake up” Kai yelled up the stairs “coming…” Raven said sounding tired, Kai turned around to see Raven slowly walking the stairs yawning and starching her eyes barely open, Kai set Raven’s breakfast on the dining table “thanks” Raven whispered trying to wake up “want a coffee?” Kai asked laughing at Raven’s attempt to stay awake “yeah please” Raven replied rubbing her eyes about 1 minute later Raven’s coffee was set onto the dining table Raven didn’t notice it for about 30 seconds “oh wow magic’s” Raven said half tired reaching for the cup “are you sick Raven?” Kai asked concerned “Nah I’m fine” Raven responded drinking her coffee.
“So I have planned a day out for us today, were going to see the northern lights!”
Kai exclaimed in excitement Raven looked up smiling at Kai “sounds cool!” Raven said, “When do we head out?” Raven asked going upstairs to get dressed “Midnight,” Kai told Raven, Raven looked at Kai “I’ll be asleep by then” Raven looked confused “no don’t worry you can sleep on the way the lights start at 2:00 am” Kai explained “so I’m guessing it takes 1 hour to get there” Raven assumed “yep, but with my flight speed it’ll take half that time” Kai boasted slightly.
The bells chimed Midnight “Raven its time to go, did you pack snacks for yourself?” Kai asked, “I always pack the snacks” Raven sneered sarcastically. Kai was leading the carriage to the mountain to see the northern lights with Raven sitting on her back taking a nap “what was the point of taking the carriage” Kai thought to her self…momentarily Kai felt lightheaded and her stomach felt like it was in her throat, her heartbeat was racing “whoa what was that?” Kai thought to herself “wait a minute?” Kai asked out loud in a whisper Raven woke up slowly as Kai landed in the cave “are we late?” Raven asked worried “no were 30 minutes early” Kai replied meeting Raven’s piercing blue eyes, her stomach filled with butterflies and she was feeling lightheaded again “are you okay, you look pale?” Raven asked sounding concerned “I’m fine…I’m great” Kai whispered.
30 minutes later
“Raven, look it’s starting!” Kai yelled out of excitement. Raven looked around but not at the lights but at Kai… "hey Kai?” Raven asked sounding nervous “yeah…w…what’s up?” Kai stuttered sounding scared trying not to meet Raven’s eyes “I have a confession” Kai’s heart dropped in a milo second hearing that sentence “s…sure what wrong?” Kai asked meeting her eyes making her nerves 100 times worse “when I’m with you I feel safe” Raven confessed “oh I know you’ve said this before” Kai said confused “well just wanted you to know it” Raven explained sitting next to her on the edge of the cave entrance “well…I have a confession as well but my nerves won’t let me say it” Kai said her voice cracking “you can say anything to me” Raven reassured her “okay here goes nothing…” Kai thought to herself, her mind racing, her heart pounding and her body shaking violently “I kind of…have feelings for you” Kai confessed holding her breath talking thought gritted teeth, Raven looked surprised and not knowing what to say “oh…um I kind of like you as best friend I mean I see you as a sibling” Raven whispered scared of Kai’s reaction “oh…that’s…that’s fine” Kai stuttered tears welling up in her eyes “are you sure you’re okay” Raven said concerned “no trust me I’m fine” Kai said avoiding eye contact with Raven.
Once back home Kai landed the carriage, untied the leash and opened the palace door running upstairs her hooves thumping on the concrete floor and echoing around the castle, Raven holding her breath “hey Kai wait” Raven yelled but instantly regretted it because once Kai turned around her eyes weren’t brown anymore they were red with tears and anger, her teeth looked powerful enough to bite thought rock but she bit through her fear and said “come here” Raven said bravely, Kai slowly walked down the stairs her sharp teeth showing out her mouth and her eyes growing lighter with every step towards Raven “I don’t want to hurt you” Kai said sounding scared “ you won’t” Raven reassured her holding her arms out Kai stopped in her tracks before running into a hug so tight she could barely breathe but she didn’t care. A few hours went by and Kai had fallen sound asleep on the bed while watching TV with Raven.
Raven covered Kai in her fluffy blanket as she did on the day they met, Kai stirred and laughed in her sleep Raven smiled back at her, Raven moved off of the bed and accidentally bumped into Kai’s wing…but Kai didn’t react apart from a small twitch Raven didn’t notice how soft Kai’s wings were she stroked it for a few seconds and Kai continued to twitch and laugh in her sleep “that’s adorable” Raven thought to herself. 1 hour later Kai woke up slowly to Raven stroking her wing, Kai tried to hold back her smile and blush but it was too late Raven already had caught her “hey pigeon” Raven said playfully, Kai smiled even more and grew a darker shade of red “is that my new nickname now?” Kai asked raising her eyebrow “yep” Raven replied.
Kai got out of bed remembering what had happened last night “oh I’m sorry for the anger yesterday” Kai apologized sounding scared… “don’t worry about it” Raven replied handing Kai’s breakfast to her. “so I’m guessing you want to go home soon” Kai asked looking at the ground “ummm…I’ll think about it” Raven hesitated also looking at the ground…Suddenly a crash came from outside of the bedroom, Kai instantly turned back into the scary form that Raven saw yesterday but this time her legs and arms where black horse hooves and her wings looked like they were going to reach the roof “stay here hide under the bed” Kai warned, Raven, did as she said while hearing a creak of the bedroom door open.
Kai slowly inspected the outside of the bedroom and then she saw something in the kitchen area so she spread her wings and flew as fast as she could shooting a large black beam of light out of her eyes upon seeing a plain white suit and hearing “I’ll find you Demon”. Raven was still hiding under the bed but something was wrong she felt a sharp pain in her back and legs so she had no choice but to leave the under of the bed and hide somewhere else she decided to hide in the wardrobe trying not to scream in pain, she was now hunched over in a crouching position biting down on her lip clenching her eyes tightly shut, then the pain disappeared in an instant, Raven heard a big ripping sound coming from behind her.
Kai was fighting off 10 Demon hunters with her magic but she wasn’t winning, they shot nets at her every 30 seconds and shooting guns at her wings, she had only killed 5 of them but there were hundreds of them outside…Suddenly Raven burst out through the bedroom door Kai looked at her she was flying with giant bright white wings and her hooves were also white with red highlights “Raven move!” Kai yelled seeing a large gun being pointed at her Raven dodged but flew into Kai knocking her out Raven shot a bright white light at the Demon hunters killing all of them in a flash.
Raven flew down to Kai “come on Kai wake up please…for me” with that sentence Raven laid a hoof on Kai’s shoulder and suddenly Kai woke up and stood up in a panic “hey it’s okay I handled it” Raven reassured her Kai looked around seeing no more Demon hunters. Kai hugged Raven tightly “thank you so much…I love you” Kai said before whispering under her breath and turning bright red “I heard that” Raven whispered and Kai managed to turn a darker shade of red Kai pulled away from the hug looking at ground and then the ceiling “hey I have an idea” Kai exclaimed Raven looked confused “follow me” Kai yelled running out of the palace and taking off to the sky Raven shortly behind her, Kai landed on a cloud “how about we live in the sky?” Kai suggested looking into Raven’s eyes her stomach again filling with butterflies and her heart skipping a beat “sounds fun but what about the winter?” Raven asked meeting Kai’s eyes “wait I have another idea, stay here,” Kai said taking off into the sky higher than the palace roof…Suddenly Kai shot a rainbow streak of light at the palace then landing back next to Raven.
“What’s that?” Raven asked confused “when a Demon hunter touches the force field they will be teleported into the ocean far away, we’re the only ones who can go thought it” Kai explained with happiness Raven looked at her smiling “so even though we’re not together we can still live together safely” Kai exclaimed looking at the ground letting a tear escape and fall thought the cloud. Raven walked slowly to Kai wrapping her arms around her and pulling away looking her in the eyes “we could be together” Raven whispered, Kai looked up at her closing her eyes letting another tear fall down her face. A few seconds pass and Kai found herself in another tight hug but she pulled away meeting Raven’s beautiful blue eyes slowly going closer and then meeting face to face Kai waited 10 seconds before pulling away “I love you” Kai whispered before laughing and flying away into the castle, Raven followed flying quicker and pinning Kai to the ground and meeting face to face again for another 10 seconds “I love you too” Raven replied after pulling away.
2 months later
Kai was woken by a crash in the kitchen “Raven?” Kai asked as she walked down the stairs but she didn’t get an answer “Raven?” Kai asked again but still…nothing, Kai flew outside into the cloud they used to watch the sunrise and set “Raven, what’s wrong?” Kai asked finding her laying on the cloud “oh…nothing I just wanted to surprise you” Raven said looking at the sun rising. “Come inside Raven its cold” Kai suggested but Raven just shook her head “Nah it’s okay I have your hoodie” Raven replied holding Kai’s anime hoodie “I was looking for that” Kai whispered sitting next to Raven “it’s funny,” Kai said out loud “what is?” Raven asked confused “oh life” Kai replied looking at Raven who was confused, Raven sat up “its just life can be so sad, but all you need is 1 person that you love then life is happy forever” Kai explained looking at the horizon.
Raven was sitting next to Kai her arm around her shoulder, Kai slowly put her head on Raven’s shoulder and closed her eyes “don’t fall asleep” Raven whispered “I won’t” Kai replied sitting back up again and flying back into the castle. Raven flew after her laughing, “Where you’d go?” Raven asked herself looking around the castle trying to find Kai who was hiding…Suddenly Raven was pinned onto the ground facing into Kai’s blue eyes “real smart” Raven sighed sarcastically. Kai let go of Raven letting her get up off of the ground and running out of the castle flying to the sky “oh no you don’t” Raven thought running after Kai finding her on the same cloud she was on earlier, Raven sat next to Kai watching the sunrise above the horizon. Kai put her head on Raven’s shoulder falling asleep silently.
A few days go by and Raven was downstairs making snacks. Kai was walking downstairs “have you finished the snacks for the party?” Kai asked exited Raven shook her head “I’ll help you, where are they?” Kai replied looking at Raven’s eyes. “They're in the pantry” Raven replied as Kai flew into the pantry. 2 hours went by in a flash and the decorations and food were all ready. “So who’d you invite?” Kai asked setting down the last bowl of snacks, “oh just a few friends I met” Raven replied meeting Kai’s blue eyes. 1 hour later Kai, Raven and their new friends were watching a horror movie and Kai was holding Raven’s hand and one of their friends asked: “Are you two together?” Kai looked confused “I thought you knew?” Kai replied raising her eyebrow and with that sentence, all her friends looked at Raven and Kai some smiling some disappointed and angry “whoa…Storm are you okay” Raven asked because Storm looked angry “no I’m not” Storm sneered at Raven “why?” Kai asked sitting up locking eyes with Storm, “because I don’t like you or Raven to be honest” Storm confessed with gritted teeth “well if you don’t like us leave then, you’re not welcome here anymore” Kai said dryly…Suddenly Storm pounced straight at Kai pinning her down and Raven was being held back by her 5 other friends “LET ME GO!” Raven yelled while trying to free herself “KAI USE YOUR POWERS!” Raven yelled while spreading her wings out as fast as she could.
In an instant her friends were launched into the wall crashing thought it and landing in the ocean, Raven crashed into Storm knocking him out and kicking him into the ocean and closing the castle wall. Raven ran up to Kai shaking her trying to wake her up a few moments later Kai stirred and slowly woke up and stood up steadily. “Are they gone…?” Kai asked in a whisper trying to get her vision back into focus “yeah they’re gone now all of them” Raven replied instantly putting Kai at ease “no more parties, no more people…can it just be me and you?” Kai asked wrapping her arms “yeah, sure it can be” Raven replied and Kai smiled letting a tear roll down to the concrete floor.
People in their life never bothered Kai and Raven ever again because all they needed was each other and they were both happy together, they even adopted a kitten called Kacchan; it was a small blonde cat with beautiful bright red eyes who exploded whenever Raven and Kai returned home.
Raven and Kai lived in peace and harmony for the rest of their immortal lives.
