It is spring, the air is crisp and damp, and Carol is too agitated to wait for the bus. Instead she walk quickly, block after block, oblivious to the traffic or the people passing or even the slight danger involve in being out by herself at this hour. “Oh I’m getting late!” she exclaimed.
An hour later, she arrived at their meeting place, it was a vintage-looking restaurant with a streams of people, dressed in silk and heels and dark expensive suits. She entered the diner, embarrassed, wearing only a coat and a pair of sneakers, Is this really the place? She thought. She approach the receptionist with a strange face, looking shamefully.
“Good evening, Ma’am. Do we have any reservations?” she said, delightfully, “Y-yeah, for Mr. Lawson.” Carol replied. The greeter intently look for the guest list, smiling, “Mr. Lawson have arrived an hour earlier. This way, Ma’am”
Carol gently massage her nape while walking the VIP room, the greeter leads its way, and gently open the door. Carol see a well-dressed man, facing its back to the door way. She gently walk and tilted her head to see the man’s face, “Sorry, I’m late” she said, smiling.
The man look at her wearing a smile and even lifted a chair for her. “Nah, it’s okay. Remember this is a date.” He said, looking the lady with pleasure. Carol look away, blushing, their 22th date but she always gets anxious and tongue-tied, how can’t you stay in pace while a very good looking, rich man was sitting beside and looking at you while you are only a commoner and his former secretary. Carol remembered the time she met Henry, he always looked mad and always bossy, she never knew, that this guy was her superior. Time flee, slowly, slowly, they became closed like a longtime friend, people in their workplace always mislead them and even teased them. Unconsciously, Henry fell in love to her and asked her out, he always thought that Carol was one of kind of a girl that always surprised him and makes him smile.
After eating, the two chit-chatted with laughter. Henry lifted his arm and placed to his chin, watching Carol talk, lively. Unlike, to any other guy Henry is an ideal type of guy, he always treat Carol like a lady, even the lady didn’t take herself as female, and if Carol gets mad he always understand the young woman, because he always thought that she is right, just like her late father said.
“… and she said that her mom was bluffing and tries to steal the food *laughs*” Carol said, laughing and continue to tell a story. “Let’s get married, Carol” he interrupted, Carol stops with a mouth open and bite her fingernails, slightly. Henry waited, and realizes what he was talking, “Ahm… I-I mean… If we or… I-I just thought so, i-if we could getmarri-”he stopped, when he hear the lady said ‘Yes’, “What?” he asked. “*chuckles* I said yes. Yes Henry, let’s get married.” Carol said, delightfully.
