Chapter 1
Our love story begins at a near by cafe in Virginia. I walked in getting my usually vanilla mocha latte with whipped cream on top and you with your simple iced coffee to go. I sit down at my usually table and open my laptop. As I watch you leave with your pencil in hand and your sketches in another,you turned around and winked at me in a fine way. From that moment you continued to impress me with your lack of dependence.
Ever since that one day I came into the cafe you always been there. Finally I decided to make a move one you. I walked to your table making sure you saw me. As you saw me coming your way you took off your earbuds and placed them in your pocket.
“Hey”. I said while tucking a strand of hair behind my ear.
“Hi”. You said while placing your laptop in your bag.
I was standing there nervously watching you put your laptop in your bag. You looked back at me with surprise.
“Forgive me, I don’t know my manners, please have a seat. “ You said in such joy.
I nodded a thank you and sat down across from you. I placed my drink on the table and stared into your direction. You sipped at your drink and continued at your studies.
“What’s that”. I said pointing at his his paper.
You looked backed at me and gave me a smile. You picked up the paper and gave it to me.
“Their sketches” You said with a chuckle.
“But their not any good one’s”. You said while taking
another of your coffee.
I studied the sketches on the paper. They were really good. He saw me smiling at the paper.
“Their amazing, are studying art.” I said
You nodded while putting the sketches back in your bag.
“ I’m sorry I didn’t catch your name.” His said while pushing his glasses to his face.
“Alexandra Smith, but my friends call me Lexi for short”? I said while putting my hand out for him to shake.
He stared at my hand then hesitantly looked back at me. He thought about it for a second before answering.
“Jake....Jake Carlton.” Taking his hand in mind.
After my coffee break I went back to work feeling a sent of joy and loved. I never thought in my right mind I could do it. In my mind I pictured what can happen next. Will he text me and ask me on a date?? Or am I jumping the gun? When I left Jake gave me his number and in that second I knew I was falling in love with him.
When I got back to work I was thirty minutes late. I knew my boss would kill me. I quickly ran to my cub before she can get to me. I work as an assistant at a law firm. I always wanted to be a lawyer but this is the closest I was ever going to be to my dreams. My boss is one of the most richest woman in all of Virgina.
“Lexi your late....AGAIN!!” Mrs. Cordelia said while walking my way.
“Cordelia...It will never-.” She stopped me dead in sentence.
“It’s Mrs. Cordelia to you.” She says as she corrects me.
“Mrs. Cordelia, sorry. It will never happen again I promise.”
“I don’t want to hear any of your excuses. Your working over time and I be damed if I’m paying you for it. This is your last warning,and the next time you pull this crap again you won’t have a desk to work in. Got that,now get to work.”
“Yes ma’am.” I say as she walks to her office.
“I hate my job.” I say while kicking a box from under my desk.
I lay on my wheelie chair and spin around.
“Were you late again?” My friend Donna said from her cubical.
“What?! No,no.” I said with a nervous laugh
She comes over to my cubical and sat in the chair beside me.
“Girl you gotta take your job seriously, If your gone I will have know one. You can’t leave me here girl we go everywhere together.” She says with a chuckle.
I sigh before I speak.
“Donna, I don’t know what to do.”I whisper to her. “I have been talking to this guy now.” I said.
“Girl hold on,what guy. What’s his name?!! You got to tell me everything.” She said in shock
“Can you stay overtime?!” I say
She nodded.
