Prologue

Overpopulation

The tipping point of Earth's population occurred in 3026. Diseases ran rampant and seemingly minor disasters killed thousands, but even this didn't impact the ever growing population. It was estimated that resources would completely run out in only a century's time. Humans fought off the problem as much as they could. Birth regulation was implemented worldwide, but did little to slow population growth. The world then began to form a kind of lottery. This lottery was a random selection of one couple per month per country. The couples that were picked were given the privilege of having a single birth. Even then, people found ways to have children illegally, and the lottery failed its goal. After the failure of the lottery project, some vigilante doctors and other practitioners in the medical field decided to take the matter into their own hands. Some would simply pay couples to have their children fixed at birth while others would accidentally lose the child or children during the procedure. The world seemed to give up after this; humanity was destined to fall.

The Global Army

After so many failed attempts at fixing the problem of overpopulation solely, most major and minor countries of the world finally began to work together to create The Global Army. This army had one goal, to save the human race from imminent extinction. The humans used all of their combined knowledge and resources to create a sovereign ship that would take humanity to its new home. The sovereign ship would be a masterpiece equivalent to one of the seven world wonders and the humans picked their passengers accordingly. The designers of the ship and anyone who financially supported the building of the ship were welcome as the first to step aboard. After that, anyone who was considered vital for society, such as doctors, judges, and almost every career from the scientific field, were left to fill the empty space left on the ship. With passenger selection out of the way, The Global Army turned to the actual building of the sovereign ship. They equipped it with the newest technology available to the humans at the time and the ship finished its construction in 3055. Now that the ship was space ready and able to take nearly two million passengers aboard it, humanity needed to find the planet that would be ready to take on human life and meet the ship when it arrived. A newly found planet, appropriately named Genesis, seemed to be the best fit and after a three year period of readying the sovereign ship for space and preparing the passengers as well, the humans launched the ship in 3058, effectively starting their ten year journey to Genesis and leaving the rest of their species to a gruesome fate.

Genesis

This planet, that was roughly the size of Jupiter, seemed to have everything humans needed for life. Although this, Genesis was extremely different at the same time. Most of the land was covered in the same type of thick forest all the way around the planet and when the sovereign ship arrived and humans could get a closer look, they realized that the trees drastically varied in size and shape despite being the same species. Some of the trees acted as a giant bush while others seemed to be a very large stick shooting out of the ground; some trees had thorns coated in toxins and others smooth bark oozing with honey. Earth's oceans were puddles compared to Genesis' oceans and the creatures seen through the surface were proof of that. Some of the shadows seen drifting through the depths were comparable to the size of multiple blue whales combined. The new planet's ocean's most notable feature, though, was that the water was somehow colored red. Scientists agreed that the biggest differences of this planet from Earth are that Genesis' day and night cycle is equal to triple that of Earth. After observing the planet for a couple days, scientists finally decided to pick a relatively safe spot on the planet to finally start a civilization.

Natives

The first year of colonization went off without a hitch. By then most humans were still in the sovereign ship, but they had managed to build a city that was capable of holding a couple hundred thousand people. What humans had found out about the planet other than the many species of animals and plants, was of a new intelligent species that the scanner had failed to pick up. The natives made contact with the humans in way of envoy. This envoy consisted of six of their species all dressed in complex yet rudimentary clothing. Humans knew the reason for this, of course; they had found out early on that no metal appeared on the planet within the first two thousand feet down or so. That would make it nearly impossible for a species without already complex tools to reach it. Despite their technological lacking though, it became apparent of the native's superiority to humans in nearly every other aspect. They may have looked shockingly close to humans in every way except their eyes, which were slitted like a snake, and ears, which were pointed, but they picked up a basic understanding of the human language, English being the primarily used language on the ship, in less than ten minutes and only continued to improve as the first meeting went on. Originally, the natives did not mind and voted for peace between themselves and the humans. Humans saw no need to start a war and also voted for peace among themselves; trade treaties were then set up and life went on. Conflict began at the end of the first year when the natives were invited into the human city. Humans have never really been environmentally efficient and the natives found out about and did not appreciate humans polluting and poisoning their planet. When the third meeting came into action, it was a meeting of proposals and not one of greeting; the natives gave the humans two choices: they would cease their pollution and attempt to live as the natives do or they would stop all colonization and leave Genesis for good. Humans being the harsh and stubborn species they are and the fact that their people's fate rested on them being able to colonize Genesis drove them to reject the native's offer quite violently. The envoy of natives were all killed mercilessly. The natives appeared a month later with an army nearly a hundred thousand strong. They razed the human city and left no survivors. The war had begun.

Present Day

"Humans are losing a war against glorified cavemen!"Calvin Kinz shouts. He was one of the major investors of the sovereign ship in the beginning.

"Only fools shout of things they have no information on Mr. Kinz,"General Ferox says in a cold calculating tone. "They are hardly cavemen; if they had our amount of resources and technological advancement, we would stand zero chance."

"That is why we should join them then,"Nathan Wring says. Nathan Wring is the original designer of the sovereign ship.

"Humans have never kneeled to anything; why should we have to here?"Calvin says in an only slightly more controlled tone.

"Humans are not kneeling,"Nathan retorts, an incredulous look creeping into is features. "We are striking a deal for the fate of our species here; from what we know, we're extremely outnumbered with not nearly enough weapons."

"You know there are still weapons we could use,"Calvin says coldly.

"I never thought that we'd actually use them!"Nathan says, enraged. "There are so many moral problems with what you are proposing and it might not even work!"

General Vera Ferox studies the room. A couple investors and all partial, secondary designers are backing Nathan Wring while the vast majority of investors and the entire room seems to be in favor of Calvin Kinz. The decision is quite clear.

"Mr. Wring, I understand your concerns and I will take them into account, but you can see you are vastly outnumbered here,"General Ferox says. "I will use the Blacklist Squadron to fight back at these natives and carve out land for the human race." Vera doesn't wait for them to respond; he knows how most of them will anyway. Instead, he walks out of the conference room and heads toward his private quarters to plan and strategize. No matter how powerful the Blacklist Squadron is, without actual land to start the fight from, humans will have extreme difficulty in attaining a future for themselves. As Vera arrives to the front door of his quarters, a soldier walks up to him and salutes.

"Report soldier,"Vera says in the tone of a general. The soldier straightens slightly.

"Sir, our scanners have finally picked up structures in a nearby forest on Genesis,"the soldier barks dutifully.

"Let me see that report,"Vera says. The soldier hands him the documents and then stills. "Dismissed." After the soldier has scurried off, Vera enters his quarters and reads the report. This is what he needed. The humans can win.
