Regrets

It was a windy afternoon when I arrived at the plaza. This is the first time that I felt free. I was standing in a short bridge while holding my camera. I can see a lot of fish swimming under the bridge. I suddenly smell an aroma of a coffee. When I look back I saw a cafe full of teenagers hanging out with each other. I looked at the sky and I wish I have friends that I can hangout with. In the eyes of my previous classmates I am a fat weirdo who came from a rich family. I was mesmerizing about my middle school experienced when I felt that somebody is approaching me. “Stop overthinking.” the stranger stated. I looked at him and everything turned into slow motion. He has brown eyes, tanned skin, and pink lips. I raised an eyebrow to hide my emotions because it’s the first time that a cute guy approached me.

“I’m Henz by the way.” he stated. He lay out his hand. “I’m Erin.” I answered. I was shaking his hands. “Will you be here tomorrow?” he asked. I immediately nod. I do not know how can I escape tomorrow but I will do my best just to see him again. he leaned closer to me and whispered “I’ll wait for you then.” He winked at me before he walked away.

At my peripheral vision while taking a picture of the trees I am getting a strange look by everyone. They seem shocked. I suddenly realized that my parents is famous and maybe the news reported that the business couple daughter had a surgery. I startled when somebody grabbed my arm. It was my bodyguard. He carried me inside the minivan. I did not protest because he’s too strong. We arrived at the mansion and I saw my parents. “Erin, where have you been?” my mother was crying. “Mom, I’m sorry. I just wanna live like a normal teenager.” I answered. “But Erin we are just protecting you!” She hold my hands and looked at my eye. I pushed her hands away. “I have lived so many years trying to escape from something I did not know! Maybe I should escape from both of you!” I shouted.

I ran until I reached my room. My dad was knocking at my door. “Erin I’m sorry my dear. We will explain it to you at the right time.” But I cannot understand why did they shut me here for the past three years. I’ve missed school. I’m supposed to be a high school student. I had been alright ever since the heart transplant. I do not know what was bothering them.

The next afternoon I easily left the mansion without getting caught. I was taking a picture of the sunrise in the woods when I heard someone. “Yeah. I’m pretty sure that her heart is from the superhero who died last three years ago. Many Russians are trying to find her. Because of the superhero’s heart, the blood running through her body is inscrutable. It is the cure for the zezinga virus. The award is one billion pesos. Luckily someone gave me a tip. She’s all over the internet but she doesn’t have a clue on what was going on.” I recognized the voice. It was Henz. I stepped back and it made a noise. I ran as fast as I could but he caught me and people are just looking at me. Maybe they all knew. Maybe that’s why my parents locked me. I should have listened. If I only knew.
