My Love My Life

-I love you, Fluttershy. No matter where I am, I will always love you.-

"Discord!" the mare screamed as she started awake. Sunlight was starting to stream through the windows of the small cottage. Sweat and tears covered the yellow pegasus' face. A little bunny rubbed his head under her chin.

"Did I wake you, Angel? I am so sorry."

The rabbit looked up at her with a look that said that he didn't mind and snuggled closer as the mare wiped away the tears.

Two months, the mare thought to herself. She rubbed a hoof over the chain that lay around her neck and pulled the ring out where she could see it. The simple gold band with sapphire stones sparkled in the early morning light. She turned the ring until she found what she was looking for.

My light. My love. My life.

The writing was inscribed on the inside of the band. The memories brought back new tears and old hurts.

A knock at the door made the pegasus wipe away her tears and get up.

"I'm coming."

She walked downstairs to the front door, not bothering to check her hair of face to see if it was alright for company. She didn't care that her hair looked like squirrels nested in it, nor that her eye were swollen and red from crying and lack of sleep. She had stopped caring the day that...

The knocking became more insistent. The rugged pegasus opened the door for the purple alicorn who was breathing heavily, having flown a long way.

"Fluttershy, I found something."

Six months earlier

Three magical creatures stood in a battle of wills in the center of a great hall. Six mares stood off to the side, not sure how to intervene. The white and blue alicorns stood facing the mismatched creature.

An earth pony with a cowboy hat leaned over to a young purple alicorn. "Do ya think they'll win, Twilight?"

"I don't know, Applejack. Discord is stubborn, and he doesn't take orders well."

"That's an understatement," the blue pegasus snorted.

"Be quiet, Rainbow Dash!" hissed the unicorn next to her.

"What? I was only stating the obvious, Rarity. And besides, do you understand what this request is going to do to us?"

"Hush!" A pink pony with gravity-defying pink hair pushed her way through the two with a pair of huge binoculars.

"Um, Pinky? They are only a few feet away," Rarity said.

"Hush," Pinky Pie said again, waving her friend off. "This is almost as fun as watching Gummy chew on his rubber ducky! Hey they almost look like they about to wave their hooves, claws, paws or whatever, and say-."

"I don't think that is what is going on, Pinky," Twilight cut in.

"Sh sh sh sh! Their about to start talking." Pinky stared intensely through her binoculars.

The draconequus crossed his paw and claw and stared at the two alicorns.

"I don't need a babysitter, Your Highnesses." He nearly spat the last words.

"They are not babysitters," Princess Luna said. "They are merely there to keep an eye on thee."

The draconequus humphed and glared at the six ponies from the corner of his eye. One of them caught his eye, but he quickly suppressed the racing of his heart.

Princess Celestia sighed. "Discord, we appreciate all that you have done for us and the kingdom, but still most of the ponies in the kingdom are still hesitant about having you roam around freely. Until we can reassure them that you mean them no harm, my sister and I must insist that at least one of the Elements be with you at all times."

"Eww," Rainbow Dash whispered. "Does that mean he has to sleep in one of our houses?"

"No, Rainbow Dash, he will be staying in the Everfree Forest at the Castle of the Royal Pony Sisters," Princess Luna stated.

"Then why-"

"I can't stay there until ponies start trusting me. I would start growing moss before that happens." Moss started sprouting out of Discord's arms and legs, furthering his point.

"I don't see why this could be a problem, Discord." The quiet voice came from the back of the group. Discord stared at the delicate pegasus as she came to the front of the group. Discord's heart was racing again at the soft voice. "I mean, you already spend time with us, so what is the problem with spending just a little more time with us? We trust you, so it isn't like we are bodyguards or anything like that. I am sure we can come up with ways to make this better."

"Well said, Fluttershy," Celestia said. "You are in good hooves, Discord. I am sure you will fine some constructive way to occupy yourself."

Fluttershy glanced up at Discord, and blushed. Ever since he had turned to good, Fluttershy couldn't help but smile around him, and lately she was noticing how majestic or good looking he was. Her heart slumped a little. How could somepony so great notice a little shy, scared pagasus like me?

Discord noticed her mindful look. How could such a kind and beautiful creature even look at a horrendous monster like me?

Later, Fluttershy knocked on Twilight's door "Twilight?"

A scuffle could be heard from the room beyond. "Come in, Fluttershy."

The pegasus found Twilight sitting in a chair with a book. An orange sentry with a blue mane stood guard at the only other door, which only led to the closet. Fluttershy could hardly contain her smile.

Fluttershy walked up to her friend and hugged her. "I just wanted to say good-bye before I left. I need to return to Ponyville and take care of the animals."

"Have a safe trip. I hope to see you soon."

"Thanks Twilight. Oh, I almost forgot, Spike asked me to remind you to bring a book called-"

"Oh, yes! Thank you for reminding me." Twilight exclaimed, trotting from the room. She returned with a huge book titled Plants, Herbs, and Meanings.

"Here, this should contain what he is looking for. Do you have any idea what he is looking for?"

"No, Twilight, I am sorry."

"It's alright." The two mares hugged. "Have a safe trip."

"Twilight, I hope you and Flash get some... quality time together." The pegasus smiled at the astonished look on both of the ponies' faces. "Honestly, you two don't need to hide. Everyone already knows."

Twilight looked at the floor.

"Yeah! I mean! You two are totally into each other!" Pinkie Pie appeared out of nowhere. "When were you ponies finally going to tell us? Well, we had already figured it, but we didn't want to make you guys feel awkward or anything like that, but now that you know that we know-"

"PINKIE!" Twilight shouted.

"WHAT?" Pinkie shouted equally loudly.

"You have made your point, Pinkie, you can go now."

"Ok." She thought for a second. "I'm gonna go find Nemo." A sparkly portal appeared in the floor, and the pink party pony jumped in with a WHEEE!

Flash Sentry looked slightly confused. "What just happened?"

Twilight and Fluttershy both shrugged. "We just go with it."
