Chapter 1

"I'm sorry...It wasn't supposed to be like this."

She traced the room again, looking everywhere except for the man that was standing in front of her. The man held out his hand making her pause. His face had a slight smile, she thought he had forgiven her. But if you looked closely, that smile was not that. It was sinister and sadistic. She took his hand gently. He pulled her into a warm embrace.

"Thank you for understanding. I didn't know you would take it so calmly-" the room went deathly silent. All you could hear were the faint drips of something hitting the floor.

"You have failed me, Asuka. Maybe I will find another. They would have completed the assignment without hesitation or backfire."

The man watched as Asuka dropped to the floor, clutching her chest. He brought the sword up to his lips, tasting the crimson liquid that dared to paint the silver blade. He gave her one last smile before walking out of the room.

"Jin, go clean my office. Make sure everything is clean and in top shape. No spots leftover."

"Yes, my lord."

"Appa! Appa! Please slow down!" A boy screamed. He was perched on a large animals back, hugging the fur for dear life. The animal slowed to a halt to let the child down. He want into the forest and came back as a man.

"We need to get you back home as soon as possible. They are going to find you! We can rest here for now but we have to keep on our feet." The two males walked a bit more into the shadows and nested against a large tree.

"Stay here, I will go hunt us a deer. Do NOT move. If you are in any danger, howl and I will be near." With that, the man disappeard, leaving the boy to sleep.
