Part 3 Chapter 21

The only way of finding the limits of the possible is by going beyond them into the impossible.”

Arthur C. Clarke

Rey’Del through the book down on to the tabletop and thought ‘Read it for your self, if by now you have not.’ He turned and looked out the huge glass wall, that overlooked the city of Agharta. He knew that ever one of the ten Spawn sitting at the table had already read it.

He hated to deal with the City Council. At times they acted look a bunch of Shadow Eels. Cal’Tel, who was one of the few real friends that Rey’Del had stood up and thought ‘One only has to use one of their six brains to see that we really have little choice in this.’ He moved over to Rey’Del and continued ‘The Mayor here has no reason to tell you why he thinks this is so imported for the Spawn, to me it's just the thought that we have been seeded here, by a race of people from another World is all I need to know that we must learn as much as we can about all this.’ He turned back at the men at the table, with one of his arms pointing up into the air.

The noise of thought was really too much, and he could not understand any one of them, so Rey’Del held up two of his for arms and thought at the top of his voice, ‘Hold on, Hold on now.’ They were all shocked he was so loud and stopped in the middle of their thoughts ‘You have two sleeps to get this in agreement, but I’ll tell you right now, Lyn’cee and I are going back, and anyone that wants to join us are welcome. This meeting is adjourned.’

A moment later it was just Cal’Tel and him standing there. ‘I can’t believe them. What Lyn’cee and you have found may just be the biggest unanswered question in the history of the Spawn.’

That bunch of Crawl About, only thinking about how comfortable and safe they have it right here. Not one of them do I trust to run Agharta, and I understand you will want to go back with us.’ He knew the moment that he told Cal’Tel that he would never agree to stay in Agharta as Mayor.

I don’t blame you for wanting to go back with us. We get a chance to learn about the ones who had a hand in creating us. It’s worth anything if we could talk to one of them.’ He knew that Cal’Tel would think the same.

He thought about when he first learned about the Humans and how hard it was to believe that the Spawn had been a last-ditch effort to save intelligence life from a World that was dying. Lyn’cee his mate had found the location of the Human city of Nis’sel, and the book that had changed all their life.

He looked at the book on the table then back outside at the city. It was busy, more so than normal, he thought, news of the Humans had spread fast. ‘Rey’Del, from what you told me there are things in that city that could give us more knowledge then we could find on our own in thousands of seasons.’

He was right, and there were many answers to questions that most thought would never be found. None had ever thought that the three Dancers were really Worlds like Flo-zen or that the points of light in the sky each had Worlds of there own, let alone that some of them had life of there own. It seemed that the Ancient’s who had built Agharta may have of had help from the Humans or at least knew of the city of Nis’sel.

He had to think with some of the Old Ones and find out why they would never thought about that time in the Spawn’s history. What could they be trying to hind? Had they the Ancient’s really built Agharta, or had it really been the Humans after all? When he had first seen the city, he thought something just didn’t seem right to him.

Maybe that was it. Just the look of the place didn’t have the look of what would have been natural for a normal Spawn’s mind. There would have been more water areas than dry areas, he would have thought. Most of Flow-zen was water and the Spawn was from the water, why would they have the need to be in the dry air?

Ris’esa enter the room and moved over to them holding a file. ‘Here are the candidates for your replacement, sir.’ He turned and started out.

Ris’esa, what do the young Spawn think of all this about the Humans?’ Rey’Del asked. He was young and would know what they were saying about what Lyn’cee and he had found out. Did they believe it was real?

He stopped and look at the two for a moment then thought, ‘Really most think that this could be a good thing, but there is real worry about who you are going to put in charge of Agharta when you’re gone.’ He sighed then added, ‘As I’m sure you know most of the Council are more power-hungry then about what’s best for the Spawn.’

Well I a sure you, it’s not going to be one of the Council, and it may not even be a male.’ He kind of giggled as he thought that. ‘Thank you Ris’esa, that will be all.’ The youth left the room.

Not a male?’ Cal’Tel questioned.

There is nothing in the city charter that says it has to be male.’ He through the file next to the book. ‘Maybe its time we show them that we are living in a new time for the Spawn, and what better way than to appoint a Dark Female as my temporary replacement.’ He just hoped that this didn’t under mind him with the rest of the inhabitants of Agharta.
