Chapter 1
Walking. Walking. Walking. I have been walking for over 4 hours but the strangest thing is, my legs aren't sore. But my mind is. My mind is numb. I can't seem to hold on to the news. My parents aren't my real parents. They were forced to take care of me. After living with them for 20 years of my life. I came to know now?
Oh. You're confused aren't you? Well. Let me tell you about myself.
I'm a twenty-two year old girl who just came to know that the man and woman I have lived with for 20 years of my life aren't my real parents. Well. I have finished school and I am now working my dream job. I'm an employee. I work at a design company, with an advantage of working in the comfort and safety of my home. I have been living in a separate apartment for 2 years because I didn't want to burden my "parents".
Well... The news broke out to me in the morning. 8:00 am. I went to visit my "parents". We were having breakfast in the kitchen, by the counter. When I asked..." Why don't I have siblings?"
Funny right. I have been with them for twenty years but this question had to come up now. They looked... Shocked. The reaction shocked me too. They had dropped their spoons in the bowl. As to which the milk went splashing out of the bowl. I looked at them. And that's when they broke it to me... They told me how I was shoved into their arms. Because I was their RESPONSIBILITY. My real parents died in an accident, but their bodies weren't found. Neither their car. All of their property was named after me. But someone had to take care of me. I was only 9 months old. I was with my grandmother. But she was not strong enough to look after me. And that's how they ended up looking after me. I didn't have any other close relatives. Not that my grandmother remembered.
I know dramatic right?
I was jolted out of my thoughts. Where am I?
I was standing in an alley. I rolled my eyes. This is what I deserve for being to lost in my thoughts. I turned around walking back to my own apartment. Tired and Hungry. I didn't eat anything at my parents house. My tummy started rumbling. My eyelids falling. I noticed a car coming down from the street. It's quiet. Just the sound of the car's tyres rolling on the rough path. And then it stopped. In front of... Me?!
