Chapter 1
chapter one —
HEART OF ETERNITY
A PRETTY PRINCE sat on his throne with bottles of hearts surrounding him, his ethereal smile, his flaxen gaze is just enough to make anyone fall in love with a dangerous soul like his. Alongside his celestial looks, he harboured wealth, fame and most importantly intelligence; many would call him a renaissance man; one who always questions the world around him and never relies on the idea of fate.
But this little prince has one dirty secret.
He's a thief.
His wealth is not from large businesses or simple wealth from his family, this prince has no family, he's a lone wolf with sharp teeth and an insatiable taste for money. The money he earns is from his expensive heists.
And now he's planning to do his biggest heist of all, stealing the heart of eternity, a palatial vivid blue diamond; which glimmers even in the absence of light. The opulent diamond worth three billion dollars, exceeding the highest reigning diamond The Koh-i-Noor. The diamond found in 2020 was then cut into the shape of a heart and made into a necklace, not to be kept in a glass container its whole life but to be worn by the daughter of the owner. And to his luck, the young heiress attends the prestigious academy he purposely joined in hopes of finding rare finds.
The room is brightly lit with hundreds of affluent guests. Soren Bianchi, a boy in his late teen years. Remarkably handsome, with prominent features, raven hair and light brown eyes. A sly thief, well known due to his title of 'Prince of Sinclair Academy' he's evidently loved by many and closely watched by a minority. He's deeply admired, his overflowing wealth could buy cities, countries and perhaps in the future the whole world. People are oblivious to his lies, 'moral' people seemingly love an immoral man but suddenly when one is moral, they're suddenly a villain. There's a gaze he holds, scanning the crowd, stern and focused and blind to his female admirers. A smirk tugs on his mouth, his eyes were on her.
Valerie Tipton.
A girl who is yet to reach her twenties, golden-brown hair and pretty auburn eyes. A smile that's daring, a poor heart with a heart monitor disguised as a wrist-watch. A baby face that's desired by many, she's an endless fountain of youth with wide hips and a rather small waist. Her curvy body is admired by many, the cerulean silk attire hugging them endlessly. The daughter of Eli Tipton, the owner of the heart of eternity that matched her dress immaculately.
Soren watches her from a distance. If only he could rip that necklace off her, he'd feel delightfully satisfied, not completely because thieves are voracious. Nothing in this world could satisfy them, they need more, more to ignite their sinful greed.
"Pretty." a velvet voice comments.
Riven Errendor. A twenty-year-old with a thriving ambition, a pretty boy with a never ending greed for wealth. An expert thief, successful in countless heists due to his mesmerising words and intoxicating personality. Brown hair and brown-eyed, a chiselled face with a tall physique. A womaniser, always attracting women and letting them down before the relationship progresses. A boy who believes in foolery to receive the highest rank in life, seemingly seen as unserious but is, in fact, an intellect. He enjoys watching others make assumptions that he's stupid, he craves attention in the most malicious way.
"The necklace is pretty."
"I think the girl is pretty, the necklace is pretty too."
Soren grimaces at Riven's words. "She's not pretty, that necklace is the only thing that makes her stand out, without it she'd be a regular girl." his words shallow and remorseless, he could care less about anyone. In his world he exists, other people are extras as he's the main character.
"Perhaps shaming another girl isn't the way to go, she hasn't spoken a word to you and here you are making a judgement against her, don't you believe that's shallow even for you Soren?" Riven questions. He has won several rewards for festivals he conducted in support for women, he believed inequality exists in society. Quite ironic for a man who is labelled as a womaniser.
"Look at her. An obvious spray tan and lips filled with God knows what, if she truly wanted to be seen as a nice girl, she wouldn't have got work done." Soren retorts, unaware that Valerie Tipton has a Persian heritage hence the naturally tanned skin and her lips genetically attained from her deceased mother.
"Regardless, every woman is beautiful." Riven ends the conversation sternly, his eyes falling on the necklace around Valerie's neck. Sure she's a vision, but the diamond around her neck excited him more. The mere idea of having such a rare diamond in his hand, he couldn't imagine the excitement — simply overwhelming.
"Whatever. Tell Luan to turn off the lights, we need that diamond, it's now or never."
Luan Belfesar. Nineteen years old, but always pretends he's older. Born with a silver spoon his mouth, hence his personality, indifferent and unbothered. Filled with childhood neglect and constant babying by butlers led him to develop a spiteful contempt towards the class system. He wants a calm yet sinister revolution, so to break through his title, he became a thief. A platinum blonde with a fiendish smile, always first in line to conduct a dangerous heist. He carries strong dislike towards people like Valerie Tipton, it fills his heart with disdain, dark rage and horrible desires pollute his mind. He goes big but never goes home, with his home never existing in the first place, it's him against the world.
He reaches in his pocket, only to find a message from Riven. A smirk tugs on his beguiling face. He reaches for the main switch, pulling the lever. In a matter of seconds, the power in all the rooms went out. Leaving the guests to shuffle in horror, they all start murmur instinctively, they were unquestionably worried.
"Go." Riven whispers.
Soren places on his tailored night vision Louis Vuitton sunglasses. He notices Valerie looking around the room hopelessly. He found her dense, a prey waiting for a predator. Girls like her made him sick, they're rich without a reason. Inheritance makes them shine, making normal girls aspire to be like her. He hated everything about her, the idea of her not bothering to put effort in her life, simply sitting down and eating with other class hypocrites. Life is hard, people like Valerie cause social pressure for those below them. They make people want to be like them. There once was a time where Soren wished he was like them but he's nothing like them. He had enough, so taking from the rich and helping those below them is something he lives by. Regardless of how nice a rich person is, they're only nice because they have everything they could ever wish for. If they had nothing, they'd be lawless.
As he approaches her he notices her hands shaking. It's pathetic how these people behave, with all this money in the world; they can't afford to learn self-defence? Soren pushes her against the wall, covering her mouth to prevent her from screaming. He notices tears sliding down her face, and on to his hand. For a split second, he felt sorry for her, but he couldn't care enough to stop himself from stealing her necklace.
He moves his hand down towards her neck, his gaze falling on the diamond. It was incomparable, nothing in the world could surpass it. And now it's all his. Just as he reaches for the diamond, the lights begin the flicker. Soren felt his plan crumbling into pieces in front of him.
Abruptly the power was back.
There wasn't enough time and he was in a position that could cost him his stainless reputation.
Therefore he does the next most beneficial thing. He leans Valerie into his embrace, taking his sunglasses off, shoving it into his side pocket. He felt his body press against her rather large chest, he simply hides his expression to appear respectful when his mind was booming with explicit thoughts. Valerie lets out a gasp, her eyes widen as she feels the warmth of Soren's hug.
"Are you alright?" Soren inquiries, holding himself back from bursting out in rage from his failure. Valerie gulps, she could notice this suit from anywhere. It was a limited edition, one that the prince of Sinclair Academy wore. Confusion ran wild in her mind, she couldn't help but hesitate.
"I-I'm alright."
"That's good, I was afraid something bad would happen to you, so I shielded you in respect of your father." Soren lies, he loathed her father. Eli Tipton was the most detrimental capitalist to exist, forcing his workers to work under revolting conditions. Utilising underprivileged countries as a place to build factories and employ numerous innocent civilians who are in need of work with horrendous pay that costs less than a dollar a day. It doesn't cost a lot to be a moral human being; Why live an immoral life to live a life of desires only to die with nothing to your name but shame.
"Thank you, Soren."
"No problem." There was a dilemma. The diamond isn't in his hand. This was his chance, but everything failed. He didn't want to do this but now he has to go ahead with his other plan. Before he actually steals the heart of eternity he'll do one additional thing to set the scene.
He'll steal Valarie's heart.
As that's what thieves do.
They'll steal your heart before they steal anything else.
