Thirty days prior...
The bell above the door dinged alerting me that I had a customer. A man wearing a short sleeves polo shirt and kakhi shorts with flip flops walked into the shop, his eyes covered by his sunglasses. He was a few years older than me and about a half an inch taller than me. His skin was Olive toned and you could tell he was a douche just by how he walked. He smirked in my direction and made his way to the back of the store.
I took a breathe as I watched the new alpha of my pack gathering things he wanted and brought them up to the counter and set them in front of me. "Did you find everything you were looking for, Alpha?" I asked in my best customer service voice.
"I guess. I outta have y'all shut down for being inconvenient to me. Don't even have the kind of potato chips that I like so I had to settle for these." He grumbled, waving at the bag of sour cream and onion chips in front of me.
"I apologise, Alpha. I'll be sure to let my manager know. Now, what kind of chips were you looking for?" I asked as I began scanning his items.
"I wanted the Broke's brand, but this will just have to do." He shrugged and I wrote down the brand name he wanted.
"Alright. I'll let Maggie know as soon as she gets here. Can I get you something else?" I asked, looking up at him.
His smirk grew and he leaned into the counter to get closer to me, "Yeah, how about you after your shift."
It took everything in my power to refrain from vomiting all over his freshly bagged items. Instead, I smiled and said, "I apologise but I'm waiting for my mate. Now, your total will be 4.54."
He blinked at me. Once. Then twice. "I'm the Alpha. I'm not paying for this." He scoffed.
"I'm sorry, Alpha. But everyone must pay." I tried to say but he took the bag off the counter and smacked me in my face with it before storming out of my shop.
