Short but spooky

"This was rather interesting. It appears that the manor is collecting people/their souls, but for what purpose? I would have like to have seen that developed more,. The cliffhanger could certainly lead to more chapters, but even as it is, this story ended on a suspenseful note. You use great imagery in describing the setting and the manor itself, so kudos there! I could almost envision it and it reminded me somewhat of "The Others" and "The Haunting" (the 1960s one, not the remake). Having lost a spouse would create a very stressful environment, and it would be fair to say that (a) either they are imagining something is after them, or (b) something like a poltergeist (or a manifestation of evil in this case) would be drawn to this particular woman. The first chapter was an instant attention-grabber and it appears that you either did some research or at the very least are well-educated yourself based on your writing style. Overall, I really enjoyed reading this."
