Chapter 1 - A Writer’s Tale

Heavily set curtains shiver in a breeze of sunlight slashes, cutting through the dimly lit living room of Tim Addison, an aspiring writer. To him, the holidays are just another day. His only gesture is a small, worn out tree placed at the side of his outdated television with a solitary box shaped present underneath.

In the corner of his room is an old wooden writing desk that creaks and groans with the scars of time as the winter sun falls upon it. Neatly arranged on top are the implements of a creative world. A brass lamp, an answering machine, a small glass jar with a pencil and a blue and red ballpoint pen in it, a scuffed up pencil sharpener, an eraser, some liquid whiteout, an elastic band, a book of matches, a box of crayons and a pair of scissors. A blank piece of white standard sized paper takes centre stage waiting for inspiration to strike at its very heart.

The light on the answer machine begins to flash with a bold red glow, purposely out of sync with the tree lights. Something important lay in wait for Tim.

A good plot that flowed well for the most part with some twists along the way, good well developed characters... there are a few technical mistakes, but nothing to harsh. I must say toward the end of the book there were some issues with like a quick change ...

Gallandro7: I originally added this because it looked interesting and I was curious how the mate process would go. Ashley: I enjoyed the story. It was a short one so the fast pace fit. I think something should be put in to show a time jump between paragraphs like a "****" just to make it easier to follow when we skip to the next day week or month. Over all a good read.
