Freedom at last
Happy birthday mom. I got you that necklace you’ve been eyeing at the store all month
Thxs Alex. You have made me so happy.
So mom there’s something I have been meaning to ask you.
What is it Alex?
I’m 21 now and I just think that I should have my own place. To put it in smaller words I want to move out and live on dad’s old house. We never use it anymore since he died.
Alex. I just don’t think you are ready to live on your own. Plus what’s wrong with living me when I pay for everything you want.
Yeah I agree that everything I have and all the food I eat comes from you but I just think that I should be able to be independent and a bonus is that it’s closer to my college so you wouldn’t have to drive me anymore.
But I love driving you.
Mom! I just can’t anymore. I already moved my stuff into dad’s house. I just wanted to tell you but I’m not a child anymore I can make decisions on my own.
If that is how it is. I’m gonna cut you off and never speak to you again. Is that what you want?
Mom or course not but you gotta let me grow up some day. How about this. You can check up on me anytime without asking and stay for a few days too.
That works for me I guess. But just know I’m going to miss you.
Mom. The house is literally an 1 hour away from here. It’s not like I’m moving really far away. I’ll be fine. I promise.
Okay but i’m gonna check on you a lot and no girls over or you move back with me.
*************the Next Day***********
Mom you gotta let me go. If I dont leave now i’m not gonna reach early to the house to drop off my stuff and get to class on time.
Okay bye. Talk later and I might come tomorrow to see the old place. I haven’t been there in such a long time.
Okay bye.
See you Alex.
Mom. The car keys. Give it to me. I need to go.
Okay.
Bye Mom. Love you
**************1 hour later**********
Finally. Now what should I do first? Maybe I should clear out my stuff since I have time. Maybe I should do it when I get back. I still have to pick Kelly up.
On the phone: Alex where are you? I am going to be late. If you’re not here in 10 minutes I swear to god I will....
And goodbye. She nags too much.
Alex how dare you hang up the phone while I’m talking to you.
Kelly do you want me to drop you or do you want to walk?
You know I can’t walk in these heels. Come on. Let’s go.

I met Kelly 8 years ago.
My mom knew her mom and we went to a funeral for Kelly’s dad. Afterwards we went to their house and my mom and I tried to help them cope with everything. I saw Kelly crying and I felt sad that her father had died.
I wanted to make her happy so I did all kinds of silly things to at least make her feel better. She finally smiled and I introduced myself. I never even knew that we went to the same school. We talked and talked and I guesss you can say that we we’re meant to be friends. The more we talked we kinda bonded on the fact that both our dad’s are dead and I swore to her that I wouldn’t let anything happen to her and that I would always be there for her.
Ever since then I have been with her. By her side. All the time as she with me. I won’t ever let her shed another tear drop. I want her to be happy all the time. I have done for her what she would do for me. She is my long time and closest friend and I wish for that to never change.

Alex what are you thinking about?
Oh nothing. Nothing at all.
Well get a move on before we are late and if we are late I will make you pay.
Okay I’m moving.
