“Sometimes waking up from flames and brimstones is better than waking up from gold and riches because then you won't be disappointed”

I awoke to the sunshine kissing my face with it's a warm touch I stood up, doing this made me realize how numb and lifeless my right arm is, trying to swing my right arm to let the blood flow is futile so I used my left hand to grab my right arm for one last attempt to restore the life on my lifeless cold arm I felt it the prickly feeling of hot blood coming back to my arm, I begin to feel again.

After preparing for an hour I went out to work as I was walking on a path that seems to have no end Smiles, greetings, and hands that are waving greeted me with a bright and friendly glow as if I know them but at the same time I don't as I was raising my hand to wave back I blinked and the brightness I saw turned into grey The faces I thought I knew blurred, I continued on towards my purpose, I arrived at my destination the building was tall and the windows were tinted so you barely see any silhouette moving on the other side but you know someone is there working well at least some of them is, I walked towards the entrance as I got in I spot a face I didn't want to see he walked towards me I turn and quickly went to the elevator I can hear the heavy footsteps that were not coming from me I sped up a bit and finally got in as the door closed a hand swept in and the bigger picture emerged, Bernard, he worked here but he wasn't really the friendly type he's a pain in everyone's ass

He picks on the newly hired basically mocks and gives orders to them, I stood there as he pressed the button for the 29th floor he knows I need to get my stuff down in the basement before I start sweeping the mess they made here at this building so it's intentional that he pissed me off by going to the top floors so I had to wait before I get to the basement, he spoke as he grabbed my shoulder ”Came to play with trash again today Kelvin?" He grinned mockingly my face felt boiling hot my fist coiled with anger im about to snap he spoke again as the door on the 29th floor opened “oh don't forget to bring me coffee this afternoon make sure it has extra sugar and cream" He commands me as if it's my duty to serve him coffee every afternoon I snapped I grabbed his shoulders and pulled him towards me then as hard as I could I head butted his nose it stunned him for a bit but as soon as he could even get a moment of balance I kicked his head as hard as my average sized leg could it flung him a bit into the floor after that I attempted to pull him up so I can punch him in the face that damn face looked at me I froze then his arms grabbed my neck and strangled it as hard as he could manage his hands were like pythons it's only been a few seconds but I already feel like passing out but all of the rage that has been bottled up for the past couple of months prevented me from doing so, I struggled and my throat felt so dry that It felt like it's bleeding he tried to pull me on the ground so he could corner me but I used my left hand to gough one of his eyes his grip loosened and I took the chance to pull myself up, I barely maintain balance as I pushed him towards the glass tainted windows where he struggled but the pain that his eyes were in made him weaker as I was pushing him he tried one last futile attempt to escape my grasp he swung his right arm as hard as he could I barely dodged it but with my one last and strongest push he flung into the windows shattering the tainted glass with the sheer force of the momentum, I stared as I see his body falling from the 29th floor into the concrete ground with a loud thud his body lays there lifeless, looks like he won't be able to pick on anyone anymore, the people around me looked in shock to what I did then they cheered, they cheered loudly "our hero" some guy patted my back and said "thank you he was a real pain in the ass now that his gone everything will be great from now on"

Then a woman approached me "Heidi" I said

She smiled and said "you saved us" for once I was treated with warmth for once I was treated like a someone as a hero, not just some guy with a broomstick and a mop I was recognized, then a faint snap was heard then everything started to blur again then I blinked the snapping grew louder as I look into Bernard's eyes "hello Kelvin? Are done daydreaming?" I was startled a bit ”no I wasn't" I replied "Oh so you weren't done then

sorry to disturb your fantasy but I still gotta remind you about the coffee your gonna bring me later" ”no that wasn't what I meant“ I

replied "don't forget" he says as the elevator door closes.

My shift was almost over my body ached from all the sweeping on the floor a slight headache poked my head it's just a small tingle so it's not really painful at least for now,

I walked towards the exit it's glowing green light stared at my eyes I can finally rest,

As I walk towards it a familiar voice calls out

”Kelvin wait up“ I turned and looked it's Heidi turns out she worked overtime today

”here" she said as she extends her arm holding a warm cup of coffee I grabbed it the warm feeling of the paper cup temporarily soothed me "thanks" I said she smiled “It's pretty late I wouldn't want you passing out on the street would I?” I chuckled “yeah you're right”, “Is he bothering you again?” she asked as we walked together on the cold dead of night "Has he ever not?" I humorously said

She chuckled a bit, after a few moments of small talks she finally said the inevitable “I'll take it from here thanks for walking me all the way here” “it's fine my apartment is just ahead anyways” she went inside the yellow painted taxi and we said our last good bye's then she drifted away in the never ending abyss of the night, “Haidi was the only person who treats me with warmth she's the only light that gives brightness to my grey life I thought as my heart beats faster than usual " whenever im with her I feel”, The air bit my skin as the wind roars silently the sound of silence was loud yet so peaceful moments like this you can't experience in any dream, I finally arrived at my old apartment after tidying up I lay down on my bed the pillow warmed my aching head the sheets warmed my aching body at last I feel nothing.
